Is anyone else annoyed by the behavior of some of the Finnair passengers.

This month:

• On a HELLHR A350 flight, a group of men turn the business class into a bar setting, standing up most of the flight in the mid cabin.
• On a MUCHEL flight, a passenger in economy does a self upgrade to business, rushing into the front cabin as soon as the safety belt sign was turned off. And he stays there for almost the entirety of the flight, returning about maybe 45 minutes before landing, bragging to a fellows passenger how he's spent the flight drinking champagne in Business.

I have raised this subject with some of the pursers, and it seems that this behavior is tolerated because of the customers' status. This is apparently because the crews lack any support from Finnair, when they try to enforce the policies. Seems to me, there is very little consideration for the other passengers who might by annoyed by this kind of behavior. Has anyone ever given any feedback to Finnair? In my opinion, the crews need more training and more support from the company, so that they can deal with situations in a friendly and effective manner.

Self-upgrading passengers should be dealt with accordingly. This is unacceptable.

Knowing Finnair, the passenger was likely with a group where some of the group were Platinum members seated in Business, and he simply joined them. This happened right after the curtains were drawn, and when the FAs are in the front preparing for the service.

I've had two separate cases of misbehaving passenger, both due to alcohol.

The first nutcase started beating his wife mid-flight over Russian airspace, and she was moved to a different seat. The second one got offloaded before the plane could take off from ARN.

I think you might be right about the course of the events. The Y pax was probably told to stay in his seat during take-off and landing. If this was the case, then the purser allowed a space-available-upgrade on-board, and to my second hand knowledge, this can get the purser fired, if found out.

I was in J on an AY flight from HEL-ORD and a group of men did that. They were Finnish Jr League hockey coaches taking a few of their players to the US for NHL draft. Completely rude and the FA simply ignored them. There was a big conversation with 2 guys behind me and a group of guys standing next to me for at least 3 hours. It was daytime, so there really was no expectation of sleep (although several people around them were trying to sleep), but sleep would have been impossible. I could hear them over my headphones while watching a movie and they had to know they were being rude.

One guy (who bragged to someone in English that he was a retired NHL player) got really excited and started slapping the back of my seat and finally hit me in the head a couple times. At that point I had to say something and I told him to quit it. When he apologized I told him he knew he was being rude to the entire cabin and kept doing it, so spare me the apologies. Surprisingly, after being called out, the entire group just went back to their seats.

The guy behind me who was apparently the head coach then decided to put his seat back to try to sleep, so I just opened my shade so he could enjoy the afternoon sun for the remainder of the flight.

The FAs did nothing. Except to ask for autographs.

There was a huge line at customs in ORD, especially for non US citizens. I flipped the one guy off as I passed by him in line on my way to GE. I was that petty.

This is the very problem with AY. The FAs and especially the Chief of Cabin don't do anything to ensure the cabin remains peaceful.
Asking for autographs surely just encourages this sort of behavior.

I must've been very lucky as apart from a pair of roadie-looking blokes getting seriously drunk before a delayed late night flight into KUO and starting to pull the stupid old "If this flight doesn't leave right away I'll take my bomb out" stuff (they were very quickly taken aside by some ground staff and told in very clear terms that either they STFU or have to find some alternative transportation that night - they chose to STFU) like 15+ years ago I cannot really recall anything more serious than the Y pax being allowed to use the J lavatory. This on AY, I've had all kinds of mishaps on lesser airlines

Ok, once I was flying WAW-HEL and there was only me and some other guy in J and he had clearly been hitting the lounge booze very hard. I had to endure his very drunken slur during most of the flight (he was mildly entertaining, but annoyingly repetitive in that drunken way). In the end he went back to his seat to pass out for landing, leaving the tray table next to me littered with half drank champagne glasses. The FA tried to give me a scalding about the glasses, but I just said "None of them are mine" and she clearly understood... Oh and the bloke tried to deboard with a half full glass at HEL which was quickly confiscated by the crew.

Fortunately the worst I've had to endure have been only annoyances, nothing more. The worst people I've encountered are the ones with small kids who think "I have a kid, so the rules don't apply to me" (apologies to those of you with well-behaved kids). Such as coming from Y and trying to use the restroom in J.

I so agree... The process from the cabin crew should be as follows: "Sir/Madam, would you mind handing over your CC, on where you want the fare upgrade to be charged at the standard cost of EUR 2'500, Oh, you are a FF. That's no problem. You will of course receive the standard Y miles"

I've seen a self-upgrade only once, where the guy seemingly was only interested in the empty last row of J for himself, not the service (it was on a A320). The purser asked him to return to his seat almost as soon as she has noticed the "newcomer".

Still better than beating someone else's wife, innit?

Maybe he was just unfit to fly Y and had an unaware-upgrade . 😁
Pretty weak by cabin crew and ground staff to not deny boarding. I'm sure Thai authorities have suitable facilities for a guy like him to sober up in.
