For many the giveaway gold is not very valuable. Like if you give it to your wife but you always travel together, she wont need gold for lounge. Also if you only fly europe, you won't have use for 1st lounges since they are almost non-existent. So in most of the cases these are things to consider.

One good thing about giving the gold to your wife, at least for me, is that if you are travelling often with a friend couple, you can host both of them to a lounge.

I did the award to tier points transfer and now left with 276 points and one more year of Plat...
