Looks like the organizers reserved the entire hotel? Are we expected to pay for the room (as opposed to using our IHG points)?

Correct. You cannot book a room for this event using points.

I'm not familiar with how much IHG points are worth, but given the negotiated rate isn't that expensive it's probably better to pay for the stay & earn points than use points on an inexpensive rate.

Cheers.

If you have an IHG credit card, be sure to use it to pay for your room at the HI. My weekend paid stay let me meet 3 requirements on the IHG Fall promotion

The hotel shuttle runs to ORD (Door #2, IIRC) every hour.

Well done on the points. Hope you did the IHG post cards too :-)

BTW yes on the ORD door but there are at least 3 ORD HI shuttles for HI hotels so make sure you get on the right one. @:-)

Just joined so I can follow this post. Looks like a Detroit land to Chicago in October isn't too bad to get some nifty ideas.

Welcome to FlyerTalk georgee5.

You will find a lot of nifty ideas at the Chicago Seminars, as evidenced by the large number of people (including myself) who attend year after year.

I have been a lurker for several months, and have just started with the miles/points games. I am very interested in the October seminar. Does it fill up quickly or is there always space available for late registration?
