The heads-up on AA business class space to Europe being wide open was really valuable to me, redeeming any time I've wasted reading VFTW over the past couple years. It's been perhaps 20 years since I've seen award availability like this for peak summer travel from the West Coast to Europe. The flights onward from London are currently the toughest part, but even those are pretty easy.

I finally get to unload some of my AA miles stash.

No, GTL, you make your profit from high-value customers. Most businesses understand that. It's one of the reasons guys who spend nothing in Vegas, get nothing. And the high rollers. . .

Revenue based made sense from the point of view of the airlines. A good analyst of the airline industry would have intuited that a long time ago. GTL, however, knows this rains on his business. But it doesn't on AA's or any of the other airlines.

Gary says AA's devaluation is YOUR fault. Because you didn't give them enough business for being more generous:

Interestingly I accidentally made Platinum on AA this year because AA, US and BA had a lot of good premium cabin fares.

And yet it's still my fault.

I'm heading to confession in hopes of atonement.
