Bought a BR open return and can't make 3 months?

Bought a BR open return and can't make 3 months?
OK, I am an idiot, enough said. The tick said "max stay 3 months" and I need 5.
So, how best to fix it. It's just an ED ticket, so we arn't talking big bucks (BKK->SFO->BKK for aboout $1400US).
My guess is to wait until I am in TPE in 2 weeks (still not having started travel on said ticket) and try and reschedule there. Anybody think there is a better option?
I know I will pay at least a change fee.
