Gutted - I’ve been here for one day and the weather has been horrific. Shops and restaurants in the centre were getting flooded and roads were barely passable in some points. Locals cursed me for having brought “British weather with me”!

So I didn’t get a chance to check out any of your recommendations, but did manage one meal out at Mironi: https://goo.gl/maps/j4kiuUqiJ1ZZ2krr7

Amazing food, atmosphere, staff….highly recommended from me!

That's one point of view, but there are some fine dining restaurants in Athens that are well worth visiting. We ate at Aleria a few years ago and were blown away by how good it was. Food and service were truly top notch, in line with the best restaurants (Michelin star-level) I've eaten in. And the price was very reasonable compared to similar places in Western Europe and the US.

It's too bad you are having British weather in Athens. I hope the weather ahead will be better and you'll enjoy the rest of your trip.

I am sure there are plenty of fine dining restaurants worth visiting. Thanks for the link. I'll add that to my to-do list for my next trip. It would be nice to try fine dining just for a change of pace and scenery.

Unfortunately, they have a new chef and it's not nearly the same... Hoping they figure out again because we won't send our clients there anymore and it used to be a go-to.

That's sad to hear. We still remember that dinner fondly. The waiters would gather around the six of us with test tubes of sauce and synchronize pouring it on our plates. To this day "test tube dinner" is a euphemism in our group for dinner at a fine dining restaurant.

Gutting - your post was a day late for me! That place looks lovely, and I was only staying up the road! If I go back that'll definitely be on the to-visit list.
