Not had a single J-F this year despite long term GoldElite/Platinum
Been told by so many that it i snow the Fare class that dictates this
I really want to know what the benefit of Platinum is now ?
First Lounge can be bought after all !

Thought of using AF/KLM but am scared of all the strikes and tranferring at six am to get to London just seems silly. I currently mileage run each flight out through MCT to gain status so it would be the same doing it via CDG or AMS but the quality diff in the airlines is vast
Only major benefit is that after eight years you're platinum for life
That's something EY could learn

I got so many more upgrade when I was a silver member including a Y-J from AUH to JFK in January 2015
But since I've become a gold member in 2016 I'm lucky to get a Y-J from AUH-BOM maybe once a year. No other Y-J upgrade on JFK-AUH, BOM-AUH or AUH-JFK. Might honestly be better to be a Silver member than gold at this point. The quality of the lounges at JFK and AUH has also drastically plummeted.

My EY Gold friend recently flew from AUH-MNL with an EY Guest partner and only the latter was given an op-up at a gate. Angered, my Gold friend approached the gate agent and argued why he wasn't eligible for an op-up when both of them bought Deal fare. He was told that Etihad changed the op-up rules from 2019 to prioritize op-ups based on fare bucket, not status; the reason the non-elite friend got the op-up? Well, the official explanation was that he paid 10 more dirhams when he purchased the ticket...
Does anyone else know about this new policy? Because if this is true, I don't see a point in retaining my status with Etihad anymore.
Looking forward to hear from all of you!

I guess the use of the 787 from MAN-AUH will help, as there is reduced capacity compared to the 777. There are only 3 flights per day AUH-BKK when there used to be 4, which may help. A change of aircraft may have helped on the BKK-AUH leg. It was supposed to be a 2 class 777 with just one J cabin. But the aircraft which flew had F and two J cabins. So reduced Y, which will have also helped me.
Good luck.
