unable to book Etihad flight due to Securecode

I have been trying to book a Flight using my Mastercard and securecode stops my process with a Code 5. I have phoned the credit card company and all is OK at their end.

i am trying to book a flight for my Wife on Etihads.
while going through the On line process, I have been unable to book seats either on the BKK to AD Sector or AD to LHR sector or visa virsa, But always able to book 1 sector.

Any help would be great

Any help at all?

You have probably already tried this, but is there an Etihad office in your country?
If so, phone them with the issue. My mum had the same problem. It took 2 calls to her credit card and 2 calls to Etihad to rectify - some sort of black flag automatically blocking one then the other, in a vicious circle. It could be you have something similar.

Are you using the Etihad country site which is the same as the one from where your Mastercard is from. e.x. If using UAE credit card book from the Etihad UAE site, if that doesnt work then the only option would be to call the customer reps.

Hi
Thank you all for the replys, I sorted the issue by Using my normal bank card and not credit card, Now i have another Problem, I used a ATM in Thailand, Even though it paid my money out, the ATM kept my card and i had to put a stop on the Card. I have now got the card back but i cant use it now. Etihads request that we show the card on Check in, I just hope they don't try and swipe it

Why would they need to swipe it? You have already paid for your ticket rite? The only purpose they would need the card for is to ensure that the transaction is not fraud and legitimate people to whom the card belongs are flying. So nothing much to worry about. relax and enjoy your flight

I had similiar problems with visa's secure online transaction service when I was buying mileage top ups to upgrade my partner on Singaporeairlines. In the end despite all the phone calls in the world, I had to fax my CC details to singapore so they could do it manually.

I sometimes think those extra security things are just more pain for customers and limits bank exposure. I can't opt out of the visa one with my credit union.

Tell us how your wife found the flight! I fly in first class on Etihad I really love them as an airline, but I hear really mixed reviews from business/economy passengers.

They WILL swipe it to enter in to their verification system on check in. Thats the only way the boarding cards can be issued after a security tag. I had the same problem with a damaged Amex card. Took the old card along as well as the new one and they swiped both in to their system. Didn't appear to be a problem for them. After all.........they have your passport and EY Guest card as well.

There is a difference between swiping the card to read all informations on it and going to charge the card with some amount of money. I dont think they will carge or reserve money on your card. I havnt flewn with etihad yet (to come in nov 2011) but I had the same terms (bring your CC to check in) with Aer Lingus, KLM, Thai Airways and China Airlines and neither of them really wanted to see the card. Like one of the previous posters said, they just want to see if you are the true holder.
BTW: Etihad wrote in my booking confirmation "Remember you need to present a copy of the credit card at check in". It doesnt say that i have to bring the card itself, but i better do

gl&hf on your trip
