I wonder what would happen if an increase in taxes for premium cabins is required from some destinations?
I used to have to pay the difference in taxes at BEY for my upgrades out of BEY.

Can anyone tell if they specified the destinations from the online upgrade facility can be used from/to?

In the upgrade sequence there is a box saying "Additional Taxes & Fees". I guess you have to pay that by credit card if applicable. Just as you do when booking redemption flights.

Online upgrades are available from the same countried where online booking is available.

I have a Question -

Is is possible to upgrade using someone esle's miles? My dad has about 60,000 miles in his account but he doesn't fly emirates anymore, so I was wondering if I could use them.

Hi rm89,

Yes you can! There are several options for this:

1. Get your Dad to call Skywards with your booking reference details & ask them to upgrade you.

2. Get your Dad to go online & use the new online upgrade request facility for your booking.

3. Get your Dad to list you in his account as his "Travel Co-ordinator" & then you can call Skywards & upgrade your flights yourself. (Or if you have access to his Skywards number/password you can do it online yourself).

Cheers

I have my dad's skywards number/password - if I am upgraded will they ask for his skywards membership card? I am travelling alone and will have my card only. I can also take his card with me.

No, as long as the request itself is 'authorised' (i.e. done online after password submission, or over the phone with details verified), then as far as Skywards/Emirates are concerned all is ok. Once the upgrade is processed & confirmed (if inventory for upgrades is available), then you're fine. No-one will ask for his card.

Cheers
