Online upgrade facility
When I checked my flight booking (already ticketed) via "Manage a Booking", I saw a link "Upgrade your flights using Skywards Miles". This sounds cool because I don't have to call up Skywards or EK to upgrade my flight. Has anyone got experience with EK online upgrades? Is it easy to get seats?
Oh yes, you needn't key in your date of birth to log into your account on Skywards.com & Emirates.com anymore ^ |
I saw that as well. Too bad my reservations are in F, I'd be tempted to get an upgrade (or downgrade) into the cockpit hehehe.
That DOB field (or 3 extra input fields) was plain nuisance, perhaps some people accounts were being hijacked and used. In reality I don't see it adding any real security benefit, since if you were able to grab/sniff on a keyboard's input you could get all the fields regardless. Too much security, my net bank does not even require all these extra bits. |
What a great addition!
I had noted this on a questionnair about Emirates.com a while back-- although I am sure not the only one to request it- it is good improvement. I just hope they allow online changes next-- (my first improvement request) |
Does anyone know what the conditions are for it to be shown online? My father's upcoming flight (in J, but on a paper ticket) is not showing the option.
Cheers, |
Most likely electronic tickets and all reservations made through www.emirates.com, Emirates phone reservations, or city/airport ticket offices. Changes/upgrades to a paper ticket can not be done electronically through the website (for obvious reasons). It would need to be at least stickered with the new flight/class so that the proper boarding pass could be issued and matched up with the paper ticket attached.

I saw this also and wondered how it worked, dont have anything worth upgrading at this point ;/

I tried to use the online upgrade option a few months ago but it didn't work. When I called the UAE service center there was no record of the upgrade request and the agent didn't know what I was talking about . Not sure if anything has changed in the last few months.

I bought an e-ticket so that could me a condition but I can't be sure. Pity EK doesn't have F class to KUL otherwise it would've been pretty tempting to upgrade IF its a private suite :p
Would be quite useful if it works well though. ^ Cheers, |
I upgraded my coming flight next monday from DXB to JNB online within a minute. No problems at all! After this I was able to select a seat and to make a reservation for chauffeur transfer.
