Emirates publishes STPC rules online [sort of]
s a special courtesy to our passengers, in certain cases where an itinerary calls for a long stopover, Emirates® will cover accommodation, meal, and ground transportation costs.
This service is offered to:
* Economy Class passengers
o If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is N, M, W, or Y.
o If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 8 hours and less than 24 hours.
* Business and First Class passengers
o If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is D, C, J, Z, A, or F.
o If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 6 hours and less than 24 hours.
Long stopover expenses may also be covered in other cases, and other rules may apply, so please check with your local Emirates® office at the time of booking or prior to commencement of travel.

For example, I will be travelling from LHR to KHI on EK 002 connecting to EK 600 (08:30 layover.) I am hoping for a hotel even though I could be travelling EK 004 connecting to EK 600 (01:30 layover.)
An interesting thing to note is that it says "available" flight. Does this mean that you can claim STPC if you have a long layover because the earlier connecting flight is full?? ^ to EK if this is the case

I think this all depends on how you interpret 'available', and in what context.
I would imagine that they mean the first flight, whether or not there is availability.
You may get lucky though

Rick

Anyone know what happens if EK is not the only carrier on the outbound or inbound part of a J class itin, but there are EK flights either side of DXB with a forced layover of > 6 hours? Is STPC provided in that scenario? In other words, does EK have to be the sole carrier for STPC to be available?
Edited to add: yes STPC is provided and EK doesn't have to be the sole carrier, according to the link in the other STPC thread.

Here's a question for ya, if I'm travelling on two seperate EK bookings in/out of DXB will I get a STPC?
Itin 1: XXX-DXB (STOP) DXB-SYD.
Itin 2: DXB-DAM
Itin 3: BEY-DXB (Award booking) to catch Itin 1 to Sydney.
Will I get a STPC for Itin 3 connecting to Itin 1? All are EK's eticks on EK flights. (If I was to fly BEY-DXB-SYD I would be eligible on all flights).
