Indeed 3Cforme. It's about 11,000km (6000 NM) to New York and the range of the 300 series is over 12,000km (6,700 NM). But I'm not sure that EK uses them on that route.

It seems like the Emirates flights, like Dubai, has marketing working very well for it. I guess the physical product doesn't hurt either.

A340-313X's can certainly do Gulf-US East Coast non-stop. But probably not with the amount of cargo EK likes to carry.

Also, you can now shave 20 mins or so flying over Iraq, as it's allowed. Flew over Mosul, Baghdad and Basra in a BA 777 a few months back.
