Correct tinky

They are very mean with their status. I missed by 122 miles in 2004 and they did not comp me, not even answereing my request. They are growing to fast for the competence of their staff and systems. I have switched to Singapore this year.

Interestingly me and some other FT'ers have had the opposite experience. I was granted silver almost 2k short and in other thread flyers who have been 1k-500 miles short

Although I do agree with the statement "They are growing to fast for the competence of their staff and systems"

Cheers

Interseting offer

sadiqhassan

Not sure whether they have a lurker on FT, but Emirates has just sent me an offer to earn xxx additional miles if I fly before August 31 to help me retain status this year. I will accept their kind offer. Timing of offer is amazing.

Actually, when I moved to Dubai from SFO, I came in late summer and did not have enough time to achieve Gold status. I wrote a letter to Emirates saying that I would like to use them as my airline of choice, but only if they give me gold status considering I was only 4,000 miles short of gold after being a member for only 5 months. I mentioned that I was a BA Silver card member and could easily keep using them for my travel to North America and Europe.

Anyway, I got a letter back a week later saying that I had been given Gold status for two years on the condition that I successfully renewed it over the following year...which I did in four months.
