332 in F?
Howdy,
there seems to be plenty of info on EK's 345. A question, though: what experiences have people had with the 332 in F (MUC -> DXB)? Alas, the funky animation on EK's website doesn't seem to be working except for the 345, so I can't even get their promotional blurb.
See ya.

I do hope you are not paying for the ticket yourself as First on the A330 is nothing to write home about. The service is excellent and the food is normally good, however the seat is nothing special and is put to shame by BA's club world sleeper seat. I've flown First on all Emirates aircraft (except the A345) and it's not impressive, only real plus point is the space and that the cabin is quiet. I do look forward to trying out the 'suites' on the A345 however.

F on 332
Thanks for the response. Yes, I am paying for it myself. However, the fare (MUC -> SYD) in F is as almost as good as with everyone else in C. After a fair amount of research, it looks like F on the 345 is worth it (for the DBX -> SYD sector), but, as said, I found little on the 332 (MUC -> DBX). Hmm.... what to do... what to do...

Just a word of warning...
The real cheap EK F fares ex UK to SYD are only valid on the 777 service that stops off in SIN, not on the 345 flight.
Not sure if this is the same ex Germany, but it might be worth checking out first!

Thanks for the words on warning. If I understand it correctly, EK only has one flight to SYD (EK 412), which is a 345. So, if they offer the fare to SYD, it would have to be on the 345. Right???

Interesting - the timetables seem to have changed, but as from April there's also the 418 which routes via BKK (and also offers first). (SIN-SYD seems to be no more, btw).
Perhaps you'll be OK if you go in the next couple of months - just late last year I thought I saw a bargain from LHR until I looked a bit closer....

Ok now lets get on with the best part of this EK F experience. Boarding the aircraft went smoothly was greeted by name after showing my boarding card slip when entering the F cabin. The flight was an A332. My coat was taken and I settled in the seat, the legroom once again impressed me. However I was happy I hadn't taken a seat in row 1, as you because of the wall in front of you don't get the same roomy feel as in row 2.
A cabin attendant from South Africa introduced herself and offered me the choice between orange juice, a nonalcoholic fruit cocktail (quite nice actually) and the thing a had to try a glass of Dom Perignon 1996 champagne. Together with this they served a small plate with a great variety of salted and roasted nuts. Another round was offered of drinks, and shortly before leaving the gate, Arabic coffee and wonderfully sweet dates were served, also a very hot towel was offered, impressed and ready for my "safari" (travel in Swahili language).
Wine and menu cards were passed around, together with the special packaged first class entertainment guide. Once airborne a selection of pre dinner drinks were offered, and shortly hereafter dinner service was presented, and for the next couple of hours I was eating great food, wonderful Arabian shrimps, 3 times the size of the ones we can buy here in Denmark and great main courses and deserts.
I found the food on this segment to be wonderful, and plentiful. The four FAs who were in the F cabin did a wonderful job, especially one of them was very knowledgeable about the wines and food, and this was a joy to experience.
Also I really enjoyed the entertainment. The screens in first class have a nice big size that enables you to recline far back and still have the possibility of watching the movie. Also the noise reducing headphones were offered, and these were so great (my first experience with these - and I definitely must get such a pair, however I wonder if they work just as well for train and bus travel?).
No amenity kit was offered, seems as these are only offered on maybe slightly longer routes? Or maybe only on overnight flights.
I found the seat to be great, and the recline so great that I could easily get some sleep. I must admit the 150$ difference on this routing (CAI-DAR) between J and F was worth paying, and if I had that opportunity I would do it again.

I am not a fan of EK although may revisit them once they start offering F to BKK. I assume that EK F will have to be priced quite competively given Etihad are pricing aggressively on this route. Currently the highest mixed J/F fare from BKK to LHR return is running at 95k baht (cheaper if you forego the 345 option between DXB and LON). I just can't bring myself to fly EK in J between BKK and DXB however.
I like the A330 F class and preferred it to the 777. It is true that the seat does not recline 180 degree flat (my guess would be something like 160 degrees). What is important for me though to get a good nights sleep is for a 180 degree flat leg rest and no sliding down a wedge style incline seat. The seat is one of the better parts of the EK service in comparison to other well regarded airlines I thought.
