If they have c.130 77Ws, but only refurbing 80 77Ws, and there are less than 20 2-class 77Ws, what is happening to the other other 3-class 77Ws?

Probably the others will be retired and replaced by by A350 / B77X.

i assume the rest have been re-skinned with newer leather and updated IFE screens, while keeping the 2-3-2 config

It's almost a kind of special skill to remain so completely tone deaf to the current market expectations on a business class seat, while their regional competitors continue to innovate.

Where did the extra cabin width of the 777 vs. A380 UD go? Did they just make the aisles extra wide?

What exactly is wrong this seat? No door? For me, it certainly beats the "herringbone" style seating that QR have on their B789, which is the same as BA Club Suites I believe - both are very cramped with a tiny footwell.

I agree with you.

However, I think the 777 width is actually wider than the upper deck of the A380. The actual seats on the A380 are already too narrow (19.5 inches, which is barely larger than an economy seat).

I was very disappointed at this seat indeed; however, EK has an industry leading First Class and PE to compensate for this dated "new" 20-year old design seat.

Not sure whether this write-up offers any additional info over & above the content of EKs official media announcement but perhaps worth a look for anyone who hasnt already seen it .

Some are fully flat, but most are angled.
