I have commuted every month ex UK - BKK since November 18, the price you quoted for the BKK-DXB segment was the going rate, coupled with the cheap price you paid for your economy ticket, it did seem a no brainer. However, if J tickets are particularly cheap to the destination you are travelling to, then it is only your own incompetence that is to blame. We are not here to individually price flights to every destination EK flies to.

You asked us for advice and you received it - nobody is forcing you to follow through with it.

Dont forget for that extra 150usd you could have had chauffeur drive too. Oh, and the lounge in BKK has plenty of hand lotion

I am flying DEL-DXB-LGW on a y flex today . Got an offer for a J upgrade for around 65k INR after taxes

Considering that a J saver return was around 117k INR at the time I booked this ticket , I felt that this offer was very poor value ( no lounge/ no CD/ no J miles )

Also had a last minute offer at checkin for a miles upgrade at around 38 or 39k miles yestrday for both sectors which changed to 45k miles today.

Now that was not bad at all as there are no extra taxes to.pay and I dont mind the lack of the other normal J stuff.

Unfortunately I was short by around 10k miles .

I didnt want to risk buying miles as the last time I bought some top up skywards miles it took around 2 days to credit. ( there is a disclaimer now )

Something is wrong here! I also was on a Y flex ticket from BKK - DXB, but for the upgrade they wanted 50,400 miles (which I did not have and why I proceeded with the cash upgrade.) Why did they offer you 39k miles on upgrade? Even 45k is lower than 50,400 miles, and your flight (DXB - LGW) is longer than mine!

50700 is the normal, published (https://www.emirates.com/account/za/...alculator.aspx) mileage upgrade for a Y Flex ticket BKK/DXB. So they simply weren’t offering reduced mileage upgrades at that time. No conspiracy here.

Actually from my Flex Y ticket I could have upgraded the entire DEL-DXB-LGW for 38odd k miles that was offered at T-48hrs ( if I upgraded both legs together )

At T-24 hours this changed to around 45k miles

these were obviously without chauffeur drive /lounge access and as far as I remember would only give me the flex y miles

PS : Rough estimates as I do not remember the exact number. Regret not transferring my Amex ponts to skywards in advance
