Please post your 2020, 2021 & 2022 Operational Upgrade Experiences in this thread for EK & FZ.
Around the middle of 2016, Emirates modified their Operational Upgrade Policy favouring type of ticket over status holders, giving non status passengers on Flex and Flex Plus tickets an advantage over (for example) Silver members on a Saver ticket.
As of Sep. 2019 Upgrading Ranking: (See this thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/emir...cedure-11.html and this post https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31526987-post217.html
IO
Any Plat ranked by fare type (Flex Plus etc) (Some exceptions reported in this post https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/31526987-post217.html)
Flex Plus ranked by status
Flex ranked by status
Saver ranked by status
So status does still provide priority within the fare type, and IO/Plats are usually ahead of everyone although some anomalies have been reported.

Please use the following format for ease of reading and of course, discussion is still welcome.
Example:
Upgrade given: J - F
Upgrade location: Check in desk 5min before flight closure
Route: DXB - LHR
Flight number: EK1
Type of ticket: Saver
Date of travel: 12 December 2019
Tier status: Plat
Tier miles to date: 388k
Skywards miles balance: 402k
Number of pax on the same PNR (Including OP): 1

Hi Guys...technically mine was in 2019 (25/12/19) but that topic is closed and I have been away since...and I thought it was a strange(ish)/lucky one!
Upgrade given: Y - J
Upgrade location: 5 Hours before departure - in-app boarding pass
Route: MAN - DXB
Flight number: EK22 (2 Class)
Type of ticket: Flex
Date of travel: 25 Dec 19
Tier status: Silver
Tier miles to date: 36k (at the time)
Skywards miles balance: 38k (at the time)
Number of pax on the same PNR (Including OP): 1
My wife also got the same op-up at the same time, albeit she was on a different booking and is a mere Blue with about 7,000 tier miles!
It appeared that every seat in Y was full. I have noticed they are now utilising the rear section of Y on the upper deck, whereas before this seemed to be left empty - I was upgraded once before when this section was empty.
Great seats, 20E&F. Merry Christmas from Emirates!

Posting on behalf of a friend who was on the same flight. Some of us had already upgraded using miles on this sector so the friend was feeling a bit left out and glum at check-in as the miles upgrade offer wasn't extended to her...
Flight was overbooked in economy with at least 8-9 pax moved up to J albeit none from J to F I'm afraid...
Upgrade given: Y - J

Flight was full in econ and 9 non-assigned seats still showing on EF in Biz T-8HR. About 4 hours prior to flight was down to 2 non-assigned in Biz and App then had new seat for me in 26B- looked like a few op-ups to F as well. App wouldn't give me new boarding card- so Lounge sorted
