As my missus said once memorably… “French wines are all sh*t”

Not a big fan of burgundy (esp reds) but this was an eye opener. Super complex, bright, can't taste the buttery notes that characterize most new world Chardonnay. A little heavy on the oak though.

Not sure if the wine thread is the right place for it, but I wish EK would serve better sparkling water than Perrier

It’s the one thing that upsets me about the EK F soft product every time as someone that gets through a litre of sparkling water on a flight, almost literally any other sparkling water would do! It’s so over carbonated it’s like drinking a soft drink.

P.S. I’m also a big fan of the Louis Latour above but then burgundy is very much my thing.

Agree with the comment about the Perrier. Way too much ‘sparkle’. So much so that I rather use the still water.

Tried the Pichon Baron a couple of months back. Wonderful.

In the B First Class lounge (many in the bar fridge) last night:
Pichon Lalande 2005
Pichon Baron 2006
Pauillac de Latour 2011
Lascombes 2009
Alter Ego de Palmer 2013
Mondot (Troplong Mondot's 2nd wine)

EK passengers must *really* like Red Bordeaux! Unsurprisingly I thought the two Pichon's were the best of the bunch (despite the 2005 Lalande's well deserved reputation in wine circles for significantly under performing in a phenomenal Bordeaux vintage)

I've never been to the Concourse C lounge, is the "nectar of the gods" wine fridge available just to F passengers or all passengers?

There is a separate F lounge in C. So if you can access that lounge, you can access that fridge...

It's the F lounge by gate C21.

There's another J/F lounge at the dark end of C but that doesn't have these wines.

Ah, I always thought the C lounge was the combined lounge, didn't know there was a separate F lounge! The only time I spend in C is doing the walk of shame from C1 to passport control...
