Emirates cost cuts - bad news for someone here

He doesn't mention the source of his info: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/12/28/emirates-cost-cutting/

No refresher towels in Y pre departure, increased cost of champagne in Y and no showers on DXB-KWI ().

What a terrible enhancement for our very discerning friend who flies ex-KWI and pays for these services and expects to get what he paid for.

In mid-January, my Sunday-morning flight DXB-DOH will be on the A380, so I can confirm that it is/will be happening.....

what will be? the cost cutting? DXB-DOH didn't have showers already, and the other changes aren't specific to the A380?

Who actually buys champagne in Y anyway?

I thought the whole point of FT was finding the cheapest way to buy travel to get you free champagne?

I can't say I'm surprised, it all seems a non event really.

Did passengers really shower on a 1h 30 regional flight?

The comments on that post seem to be more focused on the Y refresher towel. I think that is probably the most tangible "enhancement", though since they went to those prepackaged ones I skip them anyway so I don't really care that much personally.

Seriously, I'm sure people will survive a short journey like that.

Agreed. I've never been a fan of either the grey rag or the packaged variety.

Charging for disabled seats

It gets worse. I am disabled and fly five or 6 times a year from LHR to DXB on business. Our agent books the flights which are usually Economy Saver. When I phone to request wheelchair assistance at the airports they have always allocated an aisle seat as a courtesy. No longer - £20 or risk having to sit in the middle which is totally unreasonable for disabled folk!

Is it just me or EK's premium cabin yield problems started right after shower companion pilot program got abruptly cancelled? It was a good program.

On a serious note, I remember ET posting about Towellte enchancement long back, why is this blogger repeating old news

Previous enhancement was from actual towels to pre-packaged disposable towelettes. This enhancement is from pre-packaged disposable towelettes to sweet nothing.
