The agent may be rewarded for sending EK lots of business by being offered cheaper fares; the fares could be consolidator resales so from the pov of EK the tickets are already sold; resold special fare to agent might be more profitable for EK than a public fare with associated GDS, payment processor and back office costs.
I assume if you book via an agent that the booking gets transferred to our Skywards accounts in time and we can manage our booking in the usual way on the EK website?

If any changes are required before you fly, you'll have to deal with the agent, not EK. This can cause problems, as can potentially more stringent Ts and Cs.

Thanks, so there's no catch, it's exactly the same offering at a lower price from a different source - i.e. I'd rather have the 300 so if I can get lower fares from an agent I should go with them.

You may save a couple quid but you could face higher change fees and significantly lower mileage earning if those are things that matter to you.

Correct, thanks for clarifying. Changes as in actual itinerary changes won't be possible.

Thanks guys for the advice; read T & C very carefully on both before going with an agent and make sure if I do that the Skywards number is quoted from the start. There's never such a thing as a free meal is there, someone has to pay.

Discount
Got a 5% discount the other day by using a Voucher code (which actually works out at around 4% because it is only applied to the flight cost, not taxes etc). Booking direct with Emirates. It is always tempting to book with a consolidator until some thing goes wrong and then the airline will only speak to/deal with them. Not you. Pays your money takes your chances I suppose.

Interesting but when I checked it out in seems to suggest it's UK price match guarantee applies to economy only (we're travelling business):

The first one was for 7 people travelling in Y - 300+ Refund
Second was single ticket in J - 150+ refund
