Thanks, so there's no catch, it's exactly the same offering at a lower price from a different source - i.e. I'd rather have the 300 so if I can get lower fares from an agent I should go with them.

I assume if you book via an agent that the booking gets transferred to our Skywards accounts in time and we can manage our booking in the usual way on the EK website?

It certainly has on the couple of times I've booked with an agent - you may have to ask for the PNR, or if your Skywards Number is input at the booking stage you should be able to track it down that way.

If any changes are required before you fly, you'll have to deal with the agent, not EK. This can cause problems, as can potentially more stringent Ts and Cs.

View online, yes. Change, no.

You may save a couple quid but you could face higher change fees and significantly lower mileage earning if those are things that matter to you.

Seat and meal selection will be still be available along with adding/changing FF numbers and API. Changes like mileage upgrades or itinerary/timing/cabin changes along with refunds will not.

Correct, thanks for clarifying. Changes as in actual itinerary changes won't be possible.

Thanks guys for the advice; read T & C very carefully on both before going with an agent and make sure if I do that the Skywards number is quoted from the start. There's never such a thing as a free meal is there, someone has to pay.

Discount

Got a 5% discount the other day by using a Voucher code (which actually works out at around 4% because it is only applied to the flight cost, not taxes etc). Booking direct with Emirates. It is always tempting to book with a consolidator until some thing goes wrong and then the airline will only speak to/deal with them. Not you. Pays your money takes your chances I suppose.

Yes, agree. Are voucher codes available generally or was this a special offer to yourself if you don't mind me asking? I'm obviously open to a 4% discount if I can get it.

I've had 2 cases in the last month where my flight was cheaper via an online agent rather than direct.

On both occasions I booked via emirates and submitted a price match guarantee, the difference was refunded within 2 weeks

Interesting but when I checked it out in seems to suggest it's UK price match guarantee applies to economy only (we're travelling business):

http://www.emirates.com/uk/english/p...guarantee.aspx

i.e. we're happy to refund tens of pounds but not hundreds of pounds.

It was available on ukvoucher.co.uk, but to save you the trouble of looking the code was UKVOUCH, 7% if you had been flying from Birmingham. Unfortunately I was booking from Man.

Cheers

I researched it before I paid and they're quite clear on what you need to prove, exact flights, number of people, same type of card etc.

The first one was for 7 people travelling in Y - 300+ Refund

Second was single ticket in J - 150+ refund

Thanks for all the updates re vouchers. I'm leaning towards booking with Emirates direct but searching for discount codes before booking.
