LGW had fast track when I was last there early this year.
It was a separate entrance ( Gatwick premium) and totally different from the usual queue. In fact you don't even see the regular queue as it has a dedicated security team and equipment.
I used to get it even on economy from LGW as it was offered to skywards gold members

Man fast track is a god send the "normal" queues are a shambles.

If there's a queue, it's better to go through normal security as LGW have vastly improved the normal security channels with lots of additional channels, whereas Premium only generally has one.
The situation should improve once BA move entirely to South terminal next year.

Depends on how long ago the surgery was - EK might ask for a Fitness to Fly form submitted to them for approval before allowing you to travel.
https://www.emirates.com/uk/english/...n_for_fitness/
Note EK will generally not allow travel within 21 days of invasive chest surgery.
The worst thing would be to turn up at the airport, mention it and then overzealous ground staff not being satisfied he was fit to fly (or security notifying the airline if it gets picked up there) and therefore refuse boarding.
Would recommend various doctor's letters attesting to the surgery and certifying fitness to travel to ease all doubts.

I can only confirm my experience in F but on all occassions I have walked up to someone manning the queues in transit at DBX and they have escorted me to the front of the queue.

Saw that now they have separate queues for Y and J/F. Not sure that anyone is enforcing that though.
