Version of the B777-300ER

We're booked economy class on Emirates flight EK238 out of Boston for Dubai. It's a B777-300ER. Does anyone know what version this aircraft is? Is it a 2 class configuration (economy and business) or is it a 3 class configuration (economy, business, first)? On SeatGuru it states that the 2 class has 34 inch seat pitch in economy while the 3 class has 32 inch pitch in economy. A big difference for a 12 hour flight.

238 is a 3 class flight.

Most (if not all) Emirates 777-300ER long haul flights are 3-class aircraft

Not necessarily. EK776 is almost always 2 class. Also EK15 to LGW varies between 2 and 3 class regularly.

Well, he did say "most", which is accurate. And I think all ultra-long-haul are 3-class, and all US flights are ULH.

3 class. Almost always with the older style widescreen ice. The new birds don't seem to fly this route.

There`s a good reason for this.

ULR flights like BOS, SEA, IAD, GRU or ADL requires a 777/300ER with a crew rest area.

Those are the birds with Y304; the ones without crew rest area have Y310.

All 777/300ER (with 3 classes) delivered since December 2011 have Y310.

^ Good info.

This also is consistent with the trend of EK deploying their A380s to those North American routes as capacity justifies it rather than getting more/newer 77Ws with crew rest.

So older ICE Widescreen models for the time being...

Hi Whimike!

Just a small correction here: "all US flight are ULH"

The flight DXB-MXP-JFK is not a ULH flight, because there`s a crew change in
MXP.

Most of the times; this flight is operated by a 777/300ER without the crew rest area.
