Clearly this was the choice of some government VIP who just prefers this cognac to the other one and not a cutback by the airline, because why would you make any cutbacks when the owners don't care about losses anyway as they have tons of money to prop up the airline and the image of having Hennessy Paradis is more important than anything as trivial as profitability!

I have to be honest and admit that I have done this. Once. It was a trifle embarrassing as they kept the Dom separate and I remember a J class passenger asking if he could try some and in true Seinfeld-esque fashion, the bar person barked "No Dom for you!!"

I'm sure you could manage 12 hours or more if you're that keen ! There are folk I know in the UK who do something similar on a regular basis in their local pub ....:D

Personally I find the seating in the A380 bar far less relaxing than the suites, hence why I just pop down for a quick glass of something, hoping that I might spot Pele or Ronaldo there. Then, when I find that they never are, I head back to my seat to spend the rest of the flight in comfort :cool:

Also they know your name as the F crew phone down - last time I got a hello Mr X how are you etc and when I left I got a goodbye. Pretty slick to be honest. Just make sure you go and they send the DP separately. They also stash it under the bar although most people don't notice.

Hennessy Paradis retails for £525 a bottle in the UK and the Privé is £375. Both well above my price range. have enjoyed an occasional glass of Paradis in the past but wonder if I will notice the difference if I try the Privé in a couple of months? (Especially given that this will be at altitude).

I remember a few months ago a friend and I had popped down from F to the J bar - this was a morning flight ex-LHR, so I was surprised that it was pretty empty. Another F pax joined us so we outnumbered the two J pax, one of whom was unsuccessfully trying to use the pick up line "I work in Oil & Gas" on the rather unimpressed girl in the bar. The purser then came down with the Dom for the other F pax and this was my chance to make things a little more right in the world: I had already met this purser before we got on so, armed with some liquid courage "right, everyone, I'm taking over the bar, I'll handle the cocktails, what would you like". Bargirl is a deer in headlights so thankfully the purser took charge with, "of course, don't worry x this is Mr. x one of our platinum F pax". On the way to the galley she looks back with a relieved look in her eyes. Mr. Oil&Gas has a scotch on the rocks and shuffles back to his seat, never to be seen again for the rest of the flight.

Now, the Dom is sitting here on the bar, and the other J pax is eyeing it hungrily. My friend is beside himself - "you crazy ****, what are you doing?" and is abusing the in flight wifi takes pictures to share WhatsApp. Some orders come in, thankfully I can refer to the cocktail cheat sheet in the bar. Before anyone complains that a dirty pax was handling drinks for them, the purser was supervising and various crew members came by to "supervise"/laugh at us. That said, I'm pretty sure anyone going for an evening meeting in DXB was in danger of already having a hangover by the time we landed with the measures I was using...Apparently I make a decent martini, at least according to the F pax - my secret is if you ask for a perfect/sweet one you get a dry one, and if you ask for a dry one you pretty much get no vermouth at all, so the secret is actually alcoholism...Anyway, J pax, who I must say had much more entertaining conversation than "I work in O&G", has slowly been working up to asking: so...about that champagne...the Dom...can I try some? My turn for deer in the headlights. Quick as a flash, turning to the other F pax: "I'll leave this one up to you - does he deserve a glass?!". Turns out he felt his new friend's conversation was acceptable enough. Dom was served. Good times were had.

The most I have managed is ~5 minutes. I don't find the bar particularly entertaining.

Actually, I have been seated in 26J on EK1 before. I'm sure that counts as a solid 7 hours! :p

Nice one enteral. I have done the *bar takeover* myself a few times to greater or lesser success depending on the humour and nerves of the purser! We even had guest hosts once who had to stand in the bar area and tell a joke and depending on how funny would either stay in the bar or have to vacant for the next joke! All got out of hand pretty quickly. I am sure Ahmed in 26J complained about the racket!!

Two guys in F walked back to the bar. The Dom shortly behind... :p

I actually did complain on that flight. There was a DJ creating a racket back there. :o

I didn't do it on purpose but a few days ago from DXB-LAX I took a walk back to the J bar in my Pajamas with my hair wet. It was very funny and quite amazing how many people in J don't actually know there are showers in F

The dress code in the J bar (for F pax) is pajamas and wet hair.Slippers are optional. :D
