Depends on how long your connection is. Under 24 hours is a layover, no CD. Over 24 hours is a stopover, CD. At least that’s how I understand it.

yeah it's 12 hours but overnight so i have to sleep in the city. odd they wouldnt accommodate this

Just gamble at the desk, worst case you lose 5 minutes of your time and head to the taxi queue.

taxi/car service on the way back will be fairly trivial.

For 12 hours I would seriously consider sleeping at the airport hotel.

So here's a confusing one. When I booked my family for JFK-MKP on a Flex Plus, I initially thought we'd get chauffeur since we did pre-COVID. In the booking management page, there was a place to enter my chauffeur drive preferences so I did. I then called them to ensure we had an SUV since we have an infant and a lot of luggage. At that point they advised me about the change to award tickets which I then vaguely recalled indeed changing. I asked why it let me book it and he said that I would be contacted a few days prior that it was cancelled. Well, instead I just got a confirmation from Blacklane (confirmation number and all).

I had the thought that is is possible that our paid ticket for the lap infant actually made the booking eligible for chauffeur drive? Or is it likely that sometime between yesterdays confirmation and the flight they will cancel? Or just not show up? Worst case would be to cancel the car service booking I have and then have Blacklan cancel like 30 mins before pickup. Curious if anyone else has encountered this.

Let me know what ultimately happens - we are in the same exact situation with a lap infant in J on JFK-MXP, departing June 30

Let's see if anyone here answers because if I can't find someone that's had this work out before, I don't think we'd chance it.

you mean outside of arrivals at DXB, just ask if we can get a car since we paid business class?

FYI - after I changed the time of the booking (which I had to), I was told it was confirmed. This morning I got a cancellation from Blacklane with no replacement with the new time. Then I checked my PNR where all reference to Chauffeur drive was gone...

On your way out of arrivals, on the right hand side, there is a special chauffeur drive area, it is clearly marked. Go there and show your (incoming) boarding pass at the desk. It might work. If not, taxis are not expensive in Dubai.

Fascinating... seems like a manual process where someone goes in and cancels bookings if they are award tickets haha

At DXB after exiting customs turn right and there is a chauffeur drive area - they do not usually specifically book cars for all arrival pax, they dispatch them as people arrive.

So sometimes you can persuade them to issue you a ticket for a car and there you go.

If they don’t because they check the ticket eligibility then taxis are inexpensive and plentiful.

I'm travelling in/out LHR and I've booked the CD for both ends of the journey, but I have a couple of Q's (first time user of this service!).
1. Should I have received some form of email confirmation of the booking with pickup time, contact details etc.?
2. For the return leg I was not able to select a pick up time, it defaulted to the expected landing time, but the website says the driver will only wait 15 mins. We're unlikely to be through bag reclaim & passport control in 15 mins. How does this work?
Thanks!

I've booked this for tomorrow out of Singapore. My hotel is about 20 mins from the airport and the pickup is 3 hours prior to the flight. That was the shortest. I had planned to catch a taxi at least an hour later than that... anyone know how you get a more sensibly timed pickup? I see no phone number or options.....and booked it quite late - pretty much minutes before the deadline!

fairhsa Jul 22, 2023 4:25 am

OK - so I really did get picked up at the crack of dawn and spent hours in the lounge. But it's a nice lounge. It was a good chauffeur service. UNLIKE Melbourne - where there was zero email confirmation, zero text confirmation, and absolutely nobody standing waiting with a board when I walked out. After wandering around for a while asking around, I eventually spotted him sitting down facing away from all the arriving people. And got my ride (yep - no taxi voucher).
