I fly between DXB and JNB quite a bit and have not encountered the refreshed J on the A380 or 763. The 77Ws on 761 and 765 regularly have it now. Part of the issue is 77Ws are being refurbished at a far faster rate than the 388s.

That's not what I mean. I'm referring to the old business class with the plastic rather than wooden design.

I'm not talking about the new business class that's part of the conversion to PE. |

I think we're talking at cross-purposes. There's the old business class with the wooden design, including around the monitors, and then there's the really old one where plastic is still used instead of wood.
I'm not talking about the new business class that's part of the conversion to PE. To answer your question on that route i doubt there is a discernible pattern. Sometimes it’s ancient, other times less ancient. |
No flights for A6-EBK since the end of September. Wonder if it’s now been stood down?

A6-EXK is currently showing on Flightradar parked outside the Airbus delivery centre. Looks like delivery flight is imminent!

A6-EOL has not only received a refurb and PE added, but has also been repainted in the new livery

A6-EXJ is currently on its delivery flight to DXB. Is this an LR config'd A350?
Also, A6-EEF, which went on a test flight yesterday is set to re-enter service tonight on EK420 to Perth after what seems to be a D-Check |

The 77L will be retrofitted with the new premium economy product starting this December into the configuration 38J/24W/214Y, denoted the '77LK'. J seats will not be changed out in this phase of the retrofit.
I was waiting to see if EK's comms team was going to put out a PR before I responded, but it appears they invertedly uploaded the new 3-class 77L seat map, so its now public anyways: https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/...tra-long-range Approximate start dates are as follows: EK809/810 MED on Jan 14 EK530/531 COK on Jan 15 EK310/311 HGH on Jan 18 EK255/256 BCN/MEX on Jan 22 becoming daily on Jan 29 EK606/607 KHI on Feb 9 EK913/914 DAM on Feb 9 EK723/724 ADD on Feb 18 EK807/808 MED on Feb 20 As noted above, BCN/MEX will remain on the 77L. Currently showing EK809/810 MED as of Jan 29, EK255/256 BCN/MEX as of Feb 6.

Since the whole cabin needs to be removed when doing the retrofit, wouldn't it be more efficient to combine the heavy maintenance with the project, instead of doing double work to somee extend?

As to why the few aircraft undergoing 6C checks performed in-house don't get retrofitted, I would hazard a guess that it's due to supply chain constraints. I recall hearing that interior pieces have been extremely hard to source. |
I'm looking at EK65 DXB-STN in April 2026. It is a B777 and has a business class with all seat aisle access. Does this get changed out for an older version of B777 much? I don't want to take the risk, if there is any, and will fly to LHR or LGW as an alternative.

Hard to say for sure so far in advance, but so far EK65 has an excellent track record. The last time they substituted an older B777 on this route was 1st July.
By the way, LGW has (up till now) not had PE frames (either 77W or A380), so that would not be an option unless you go A380 of course. |
