Thanks - I guess with the B777-8 not coming till 2030 at the earliest if at all, maybe they need to keep them longer for their special routes?

The A350 with crew rest area will take their places.

Starting in december, ADL will be the first destination.

Probably MEX and YUL will follow soon after.

The 77L will be retrofitted with the new premium economy product starting this December into the configuration 38J/24W/214Y, denoted the '77LK'. J seats will not be changed out in this phase of the retrofit.

I was waiting to see if EK's comms team was going to put out a PR before I responded, but it appears they invertedly uploaded the new 3-class 77L seat map, so its now public anyways:
https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/...tra-long-range

Approximate start dates are as follows:
EK809/810 MED on Jan 14
EK530/531 COK on Jan 15
EK310/311 HGH on Jan 18
EK255/256 BCN/MEX on Jan 22 becoming daily on Jan 29
EK606/607 KHI on Feb 9
EK913/914 DAM on Feb 9
EK723/724 ADD on Feb 18
EK807/808 MED on Feb 20

As noted above, BCN/MEX will remain on the 77L.

What is your flight number? Direct HKG-DXB or the service via BKK?
I can try to look uo (Flightradar24) what frames are 'usually' employed. For instance, the current EK383 is flown by A6-EPA which is a 4 class refurbished 77W with 3rd generation IFE. From a quick look, it appears that EK381 is operated by a refurbished A380, again with 33rd generation IFE. So if you are on a direct flight you are probably 'in luck'.

And also: Welcome to FlyerTalk and in particular the Emirates subforum. I hope you will get good input / advice here and also that you will feed back to the rest of the community!

Quick update: Found out its the A6-EEP serving today, looks like im not in luck for the 3rd gen ICE today haha

PE product

I think A6-EUB takes PE produc, she backs to service 30. 08. 2025 in flight EK500 after long time, from 15. 06. 2025!

Seems like, A6-EEU is the next one who left the hangar today.

Question re: the 35J (no F) config old 777, does it now have significantly more space between each seat compared to the 42J (with F) version?

Yes, legroom is significantly improved. 2-3-2 is antiquated but this was a welcome change.

The A350 ULR

which the Emirates A350 will be the ULR, and will use on flight to Adelaide from December 2025?!

Emirates in the delivery line have A6-EXK and A6-EKJ!!

On DBX - ARN flights, what's the best estimate for when we can try the new Premium Economy?

A6EDH Sep 16, 2025 10:21 am

A6-EEO currently on a test flight of some sort, using the usual EK2646 callsign. It was last in service two days ago so not sure what this is all about.

Nothing presently in the plan for this winter. But they had tentatively scheduled it from Apr 1 onwards and subsequently removed it, so you may see it sometime between April and June next year.

Planning to fly EK J from MNL in August 2026. Currently showing as 2-3-2 angle flat, what are the chances this gets retrofitted before then?

CaptainEKAirbus Sep 22, 2025 10:10 pm

It looks like A6-EXK, the first 'ULR' 32/28/238 configured A350-900, will be delivered in the next few days.

Edit: Have the A380s been fitted with a redesigned, refreshed business class since delivery, or are they still flying with the old business class that has been in service since they joined the fleet?

What I mean: The plastic trim around the screens or already with the wood design?

I fly between DXB and JNB quite a bit and have not encountered the refreshed J on the A380 or 763. The 77Ws on 761 and 765 regularly have it now. Part of the issue is 77Ws are being refurbished at a far faster rate than the 388s.
