Maybe they also know they are not going to fill 2 2-class planes, and instead use a 3-class plane in order to get some 1st class revenue instead of empty J and Y seats.

That would be my guess too. If F loads are low, EK can still sell out all the Y seats and then oversell J and fill the empty F cabin with opups. (i.e. making the 3 class plane more like a 2 class plane with more J and less Y than a normal 2 class plane.)

I hope they do open up a first class lounge

also wouldn't it be great if next week qatar announced something either from glasgow or edinburgh since alex salmond is attending this energy summit in Abu Dhabi

so I guess the next question how long before glasgow gets a third service either a early morning service or late evening one, maybe not or not for a long while until how well the 2nd service does

also 12 jobs what will the 12 jobs consist of i think night shift during when emirates lands in the night from customer service to ground handlers.

A A340-300 why that aircraft they could use an 340-500 or a 777-200LR both have first class as well

How good is the A340-300 heard not as good as the 500 series does the 300 series have ice digital widecreen or is that only the new 777-300ERS next gen and the A380's have them

is that aircraft a good choice or could have used something else

Why would they open an F lounge at GLA? The only other F lounges are at DXB - none at LHR, LGW, MAN etc.

The original quote referring to a First Class Lounge referred to Glasgow airport opening one, not EK.

Personally I would prefer an EK exclusive lounge rather than the current shared one.

Could there not be a way of utilising the defunct BMI lounge in the domestic pier at GLA, but for Business and First? Maybe a system of having to present your boarding pass with lounge invitation at the entrance to the domestic pier?

Another reason for offering F may be aircraft availability during the timeslot. 2 class aircraft may be put to better use on routes with higher Y yield, so GLA gets stuck with a 3 class and some marginal revenue from the F cabin.

with this 2nd flight it might be cheaper in terms of ticket pricing but also hope fully a success with this flight

as an A340-300 will on this route pending on how successful this service, how long will it be until they upgrade the aircraft to either a B777-200 or a A340-500 OR B77-200LR

in terms of jobs the 12 additional jobs how long until advertised in local newspaper or when they be advertised it will be night shift only when emirates is there

what about the airport itself as the intl pier only has 1 air bridge instead of 2 how long until the airport upgrades it airport for infrastructure as now emirates will have first class so only having 1 abridge not good for passengers as they usually call first and business first then economy but need to have 2 abridges

Even when there are two air bridges, if the aircraft has Suites, the first one is only for the entry and exit of F passengers. Which is 8 people. At the most. One bridge is perfectly sufficient, except for an A380.

at most intl airports they have 2 air bridges to accommodate aircraft with 2/3 class config so passengers can have 2 ways to enter the aircraft one for first/business and the other for economy 1 is not sufficient

hopefully this 2nd flight will generate more demand

other places in the media say that connection time between this 2nd flight is ideal for people going to australia but not ideal for connections going to asia

also hope fully they announce a recruitment drive for the 12 jobs during the night as it would be quite useful to know and something interesting

I don't think they have to start a recruitment drive for a dozen jobs.

Also, the connections to Asia are good see this wonderful reporta.net

This flight will use the 2nd European Departure/Arrival bank which is feb by the 2nd Australasia bank.

Thats how EK work!

Arrival from Africa/Asia/Aus, Departures to Europea and America and return.

Like I said, on aircraft equipped with Suites, 1L is only for passengers in First. If 350 people can embark/ disembark from 2L, I don't see how another 8 make any difference.

Yes, on non suites equipped aircraft it makes for much quick disembarkation as they use both 1L and 2L for Economy passengers. So maybe they need an extra 15-20 minutes for boarding and disembarkation.

Some facts about the route:

...268,541 passengers travelled between Glasgow and Dubai in 2010, up 9.8 per cent from the 244,486 passengers that flew on the route the previous year and figures have grown still further during the first ten months of 2011.

Around a quarter of passengers flying this route in 2010 started or ended their journeys at Dubai International Airport meaning that an estimated 200,000 used the hub to connect on to other markets either when travelling to or from Glasgow. Data shows that the most popular destinations comprise Bangkok, Thailand; Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, Australia; New Delhi, India and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The airline says the main commodities being shipped from Glasgow include Scottish produce such as whisky, smoked salmon and oysters, as well as items including oil-well equipment, helicopter and aircraft parts, and medical equipment. There has also been an increase in demand for transporting live animals, particularly pets such as cats and dogs moving to Australia, according to the carrier.

There is access direct from the International lounge down a small ramp

[QUOTE=MucEKPer;17800010]I don't think they have to start a recruitment drive for a dozen jobs.

Well in that case how are people suppose to know about the 12 jobs being created from this they will need to do something like advertise how else will people and how to apply

also why use an 340-300 apart from the first class suite there are other mid range aircraft that use first class also if its night flight then why not put on another aircraft with suites like B777-200LR that may work or even the A340-500

the night flights will mean that between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:30pm the airport will be busy as not as busy right now during those hours but now the airport will see more passengers and extra movement

another thing for plane spotters will there be more people taking pics of this aircraft along the airport fence

the plane arrives at 8:00pm (approx) then departs 9:30pm (approx) only an 1hr and half
the day flight (summer hrs- arrives at 12:30pm(approx) then departs at 2:00/2:30pm (approx) so that 1hr 30mins/2hrs

would think the load time for the night flight would be longer but guess don't want to waste money on the ground as planes make the most in the air

it would be nice to see the airport full/busy in the evening a welcome change
