mrs t flew out of LGW in January and got the email. It was not cheap, basically the normal fare difference. Waste of time.
The flight was quite empty and she got a row to herself. Poor man's J. For a saver fare....

The last price I saw was about £650 from Y-J from UK-DXB. Prior to Covid it was around £450.

Surely it depends on the fare bucket of the Y ticket?

Reviving an old(er) thread

Whats the possibility of an upgrade email from J-F coming through for a zeroed out J flight? Booked Business Flex, am QF Platinum with 3 pax on PNR who are both QF Gold.

For my last 4 segments flown in J, I have had an email offer every single time! Problem is that they are not ‘special’ at all. Three weeks ago, for AMS/DXB/JNB the combined cost of these ‘special offers’ was more than double of what it would have cost me to buy the upgrade through MMB.

History of taking previous upgrade offers.
Flight looked wide open among all 3 classes somewhat unusually, but Tuesday is probably the deadest day of the week leaving UK…..
Offer received just prior to departure minus 72 hours, available for 24 hours only…..
£683.
Took it, as still a substantial saving on actually booking it originally.

can respond to my own post :) No emails prior to online check in. and, much to my disappointment, the only option to upgrade to business was with miles (and most of my travel the past few years was westbound so loads of Virgin Atlantic points but nothing with EK). there was no cash upgrade option. Will try my luck at the airport tomorrow but not holding out much hope.

Didn't see this, in September it was £720 MAN-DXB.
