Fare and Rule Changes Today...

I've just noticed fare and rule changes today. Typically, the very cheap Y fares between SIN and MEL were all FLEX. Now they've changed to SAVER and my guess is that this is a permanent change.

Makes sense. No need for EK to continue to promote these fares at the FLEX rate when their competition (ie SQ and QF) don't even allow for mileage or status credit on some of their low fares.

I've noticed a fare change from SIN - CDG in business class. Been looking for a while now but was holding out to book tickets until a couple of months due to financial reasons. Prices yesterday were as they'd been for the past month, checked today and they have jumped $1000sgd for 2pax Guess I should have booked earlier.

If it's a holiday trip and you can be flexible, price the same trip ex CMB and see what the fare is? Ok, it adds a stop, but you might find the difference in fare makes it worthwhile.

For example, I checked for mid May fares SIN-CGD-SIN are S$6181 and ex CMB, they are S$2962 (roughly HALF). Yes you still need to buy a SIN-CMB-SIN to connect, but that can be done for less than SGD$500

You'd save S$2500 per ticket - and that's a very decent hotel stay in Paris (or a lot of very fine wine and cheese!)

The Y fare on SIN-CDG has also gone up by almost SGD 200. Add to that the fact that the SGD has gone up 20% against the USD/ AED in the last 8 months, and that adds up to quite a bit! Though the fare conditions have improved somewhat.

Thanks for the suggestion it will be our honeymoon, so ideally fewer stop overs are better, but I will definitely check it out as if it's a big saving might be worthwhile! Thanks again!

I'm looking quite far out in the schedule but no change in GLA-DXB-BXX fares in Y or J and they're still Flex fares as well.
