If it's a holiday trip and you can be flexible, price the same trip ex CMB and see what the fare is? Ok, it adds a stop, but you might find the difference in fare makes it worthwhile.
For example, I checked for mid May fares SIN-CGD-SIN are S$6181 and ex CMB, they are S$2962 (roughly HALF). Yes you still need to buy a SIN-CMB-SIN to connect, but that can be done for less than SGD$500
You'd save S$2500 per ticket - and that's a very decent hotel stay in Paris (or a lot of very fine wine and cheese!)
