Would like to thank our man on top "AppleMac" for his always very much appriciated contribution to the building progress of C3. ^ It's always good to have people in the right places. His view says it all.

It's been about two months since AppleMacs last pic, and as we can see the cladding of C3 has progressed very good as of late. The cladding should be done in the next month, or two.

Gulf News Report Published: 11:46 March 27, 2012

Dubai: The Dubai World Central, the emirate's second airport, will begin passenger operations in early 2013 with budget airline FlyDubai, Mohsen Ahmad, the airfield's director of operation development said.

The passenger terminal will cater to low-cost carriers, while Emirates SkyCargo will also move to the new facility, Ahmad said in an interview in Dubai on Tuesday.

Dubai sees record Feb passenger traffic growth

Dubai: 1 hour and 28 minutes ago

Dubai Internationals monthly passenger traffic surpassed the 4.5 million mark for the second consecutive month this year while freight volumes witnessed an upturn after months of flat growth, according to traffic report for February issued by Dubai Airports.

The passenger traffic surged 19 per cent in February a 16 month high to reach 4.56 million compared to 3.83 million recorded in the same month in 2011.

This follows the airports record traffic of over 4.8 million passengers in January, propelling the year to date (February) passenger traffic by 16.4 per cent to 9,413,286, said the report by Dubai Airports.

The Arab Gulf Co-operation Council (AGCC) continued to top the list of regions with the largest increase in total passenger numbers in February with more than 150,643 passengers), followed by the Indian subcontinent (over 140,322), Western Europe (over 136,320), and Africa (over 110,561 passengers).

The downward trend on Middle Eastern routes continued in February registering a 23,804 passenger drop because of the instability in the region, said the report.

In terms of percentage passenger growth, South America remained the strongest market with (over 151.4 per cent) owing to Emiratess new routes to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, followed by Russia and CIS (over 41.7 per cent) mainly due to the expansion of flydubai operations, the report added.

The launch of Emirates Airlines flights to the African destinations of Lusaka and Harare in February has driven Africa up the list (35.9 per cent), closely followed by Australasia (over 29 per cent) and Eastern Europe (over 28 per cent).

Dubai International recorded a total of 27,058 aircraft movements during the month under review, up 9.8 per cent compared to 24,646 last February. The year to date movements stood at 56,738, up 9 per cent compared to 50,031 recorded during the first two months in 2011.

After months of weak performance, cargo volumes surged 6.5 per cent to 157,492 tonnes compared to 147,937 tonnes in February last year, mainly due to the impact of the Chinese New Year on freight volumes in February 2011, as well as the ongoing expansion of Emirates route network which stimulates the flow of cargo through Dubai.

The extra day in February 2012, on account of the leap year, also contributed to Dubai Internationals overall performance.

Commenting on the record growth, Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said, 'February marks the twelfth consecutive month with passenger traffic exceeding the four million mark, and with the growth expected to maintain momentum in the coming months we are well on track to achieve the targeted 56.5 million passenger traffic for 2012.'

The completion of the Concourse 3 project by the end of 2012 is in line with this forecast and will expand Dubai Internationals capacity at the right time, ensuring that our growth continues unhindered, he added.

The airport currently has an annual capacity of 60 million passengers, increasing to 75 million passengers by next year with the opening of Concourse 3, the worlds first A380 facility dedicated for use by Emirates Airline. Dubai International is the fourth-busiest airport worldwide for international passenger and cargo traffic.-TradeArabia News Service

Flydubai denies it will take passengers at Dubai World Central early 2013

Flydubai and civil aviation officials have denied reports that the low-cost carrier will begin passenger operations through Dubai World Central airport by 2013

By Deena Kamel Yousef, Staff Reporter Published: 11:46 March 27, 2012

Dubai Flydubai and civil aviation officials have denied reports that the low-cost carrier will begin passenger operations through Dubai World Central airport by 2013.

Flydubai does not have any plans to move operations to Dubai World Central by early 2013. We are happy with our current home at Dubai Terminal 2, which is convenient for passengers while offering us operational efficiency, a Flydubai spokesperson said in an email to Gulf News.

Paul Griffiths, chief executive of Dubai Airports, confirmed that there are no plans for the relocation of Flydubai to DWC airport from Dubai International Airport at this stage.

Flydubai is an important customer in Dubai Airpots. We are expanding Terminal 2 and work is underway to accommodate the expansion of Flydubai, he said.

This comes after media reports earlier Tuesday that DWC, the emirates second airport, will begin passenger operations in early 2013 with budget airline FlyDubai.

Airfield's director of operation development

The report came from Mohsen Ahmad, the airfield's director of operation development said.

The passenger terminal will cater to low-cost carriers, while Emirates SkyCargo will also move to the new facility, Ahmad said in an interview in Dubai on Tuesday.

I also noticed that yesterday when I read the article. Paul Griffiths has stated first quarter of 2013 a few times this year, and then he states end of 2012 here, and there. Like the saying goes " Say a fib three times, and it's already half true".

From the looks of it out side I really don't see why C3 can't be finished in the next nine months.

Looks like they don't want to give a fixed date like Doha when the concourse will be finished. I give the cladding two months max before it's finished then we should see the cranes coming down. Once they clean up the out side we will know what phase the inside is in.

2-12-12 is very, very possible.
