Houston's arrival information still says on time arrival, which obviously isnt the case.

I know that you're new to the forum, so firstly, welcome. Secondly, Emirates777 has knowledge that the rest of us dont have. I would go with what he says about the new departure and arrival times.

If you still want further confirmation you'll have to call your local EK office, I dont know what else to suggest, sorry.

No problem at all. Not sure what else Emirates777 can tell you, or whether he'll be online again in time to answer your questions if its related to this flight in particular.
Good luck :-)

The flight status info has now been corrected. The aircraft did indeed take off and due to arrive as per details of my earlier message.

This happened to me a few years ago on a DXB-JFK flight (A345).

We were about 10-15 seconds into the roll when the brakes were applied. The captain announced that the flight attendants should 'emergency positions', but then announced to stand down a few seconds later.

We returned to stand, and were delayed for about 2 hours while they blasted the brakes with cold air.

I really thought the flight was going to be cancelled, I'd have lost my op-up to J

Cheers,
Rick

Most of the flights at DXB yesterday suffered delays

I flew yesterday aboard VS401 scheduled to take off at 10:00 (eventually took off at 10:30) and just found out about the emergency situation once my flight took off and I saw the EK aircraft at the end of the runway once my plane passed it and we were already up in the air. The EK aircraft had around emergency trucks (firefighters, etc) and all the exits were with stairs. The UAE authorities usually does not disclosure this kind of news as it might affect the safety image the country MUST show to the world according to them. In any other country this would have been headlines for a while... even though there were not casualties and the crew might have done a good job to evacuate the passengers.

Sorry, Could not get back till now.

The flight did leave around 5:30 PM yesterday and arrived at IAH around 11:45 PM as said before by Emirates 777. The crew as a whole were great and the rescheduled flight was uneventful.

Welcome to FT!

What a load of crap that is! Check the news and you will see some reports of engine shut downs mid flight, recalled flights etc-- this is just not news worthy -- but FT worthy!!

Aborted take off and landings are a fairly regualr occurence in the aviation field -- so of course, uneventful ones like this , are not (front page) news.
