Ithink the 767 are better in C class then the 777 Class.
The F seats in the 777 and 744 are much better then the 767 seats.
They are wider and the F product is good.
(not as good as BA , LH and SX .. :-)

I am going to fly to YYZ in the 763 in 10 days un 4A
then to HKG in 2A
I will update you :-0

Not everyone would agree with you there. My mother, for example, finds the new 767 seats far better than the F seats on the 777/744.

They are wider and the F product is good.
On that I have to agree.

I can't comment on that, not having tried them ever in F.

As far as the comparison of El Al's idea to that of LAN Chile, it is totally, 100% false. I just booked a trip for my family this December JFK-LIM-SCL and return on LAN. Yes, they have implemnted a "Premium Business" but it is of the likes of CO, VS, etc. They do not sell F anymore (same food, service until all 767s are refitted and A340s have been refitted) and trest this as a NEW J. Already major routes have lost First, replaced by very nice Shell J seats LAN Premium J.

Lan Chile IS NOT keeping their old, inferior J (as El Al is) and selling seats at a even higher price. Just wanted all to understand that!

But I say, El Al, if you want to loose 44 million more dollars, go for it!

Just read an article in YNEt that states that LY paid $20 Million on new seats for the 777 - made by SICMA.
It also states the new seats will be installed in Y, Business and FIRST!
I wonder if that means that they are not going ahead with the two Business classes idea or that YNEt doesnt know the difference.

Apparently also in the marker they are talking about First Class:

חברת אל על נתיבי אוויר לישראל הודיעה, כי חתמה על הסכם עם חברת הצרפתית לרכישת מושבים חדשים למטוסי ה-777 וה-747 שלה, בעלות של כ-20 מיליון דולר. באל על ציינו, כי למחלקת העסקים ולמחלקה הראשונה נרכשו כ-522 מושבים המשמשים גם כמיטה, וכ-464 מושבים למחלקת התיירים במטוסי ה-777 שלה.
According to this calculation thats new seats for the F and C in all the 777 and 744 and new Y seats for the two new 777 only.

I checked out the article to see who wrote it.
Had it been אריה אגוזי I would have said they probably don't know the difference.
They guy who is their travel journalist hasn’t a clue about travel, and consistently gets things wrong.
However its someone else who reported this, so who knows...

well, to someone who doesn't drink the El-Al Kool-aid, they probably realize that Y, Biz, Biz+ =Y, Biz, First.

Well, I found another article with mor einfo:
in hebrew
http://www.nfc.co.il/Archive/001-D-1...l?tag=10-30-27

interesting thing is that for 10 a/c thats an average of 11 First Class (or Premium Business class) per a/c.
With 6 777 and 4 744 -
I think that makes 8 seats in 777 (maybe two rows of 4)
but then you have 16 seats in the 744.
Next option is 10 seats in each 777 (60) and 13 in 744. But how do you fit 10
first class seats in a 777?
Next option is 12 seats in 777 (72) but only 10 seats in 744.
Or maybe they just ordered a few extra. I dont know.
What I do know is that they ordered about 44 more seats then they would have needed for current configuration, so the First Class is getting much bigger.
While the business class is getting smaller - for current confiuration they would have needed (6 x 40 + 4 x 52) = 448 - and they ordered only 410 - thats 38 less.
So it looks like the number of premium seats satys the same, but totally different layout.

In economy they currently have 236/7 seats in 777, but they only got 464 for two a/c - thats 232 per a/c - I am sure they got extra.
Not sure how many extra they got, but it looks like atlest a row less of economy seats.

If they are keepinhg all the seats with 3 class configuration - To me it looks like hey got one extra row in First/Premium J, one less row of J class but with more pitch and one less row of Y.

But i could be wrong, and it could be that some of the a/c might only have one class or two class - so anything could happen.

I HATE THAT LY S NOT GIVING US INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know anything at all about airline parts inventories, but if they're going to be installing these seats they're absolutely going to want/need spare units for repair and replacement. It's not practical to have it any other way, especially with premium seats; if one gets broken you don't want to wait for the supplier to ship when you can be selling the seat for a fat price.

ly787 May 5, 2007 1:53 am

Some more info on the seats from "GLOBES":Apparently "we" will have curtains in the new F/J+.

The new first-class seats can be converted into beds with curtains for privacy. The new business class seats can also be converted into beds, but without curtains. El Al plans to install 410 new business class seats and 112 first-class seats altogether.

Ahem. .
Gentlemen, I just read the press release on LY's website about the new seats.
No that there is some official word, it seems to me that they are sticking with the old F-C-Y model and not adding another level. That's what I read from the article as well as the reality that nobody I have spoken to (flight attendants, pursers, "sherut shalom", check-in attendants, station managers) have any indication at all that they are adding a level in between F and C.

Is it possible that somebody on the board here had wrong information from the start?

I looked on the Hebrew site and missed it. Can you give the URL, please?
