EL AL 787 Master Thread

I went on the 777 registered 4X-ECB 2 weeks ago from TLV to BOS. It was an embarrassing flight. The airplane was 19 years old but the seats felt older (I was in business class, and the 2-3-2 arrangement was ancient). The IFE had a total of 10 movies (which is pathetic for business class, let alone coach) and the airplane itself was FILTHY. The seats, the vents, the carpets...I had never seen an airplane that filthy. The next flight to boston a few days later was operated by the brand new 787-8 registered 4X-ERA, which made me pretty annoyed.
Not flying El Al again if I have to fly on their 777. It was embarrassing considering the price of the ticket.

DHLieb You'll be amazed to hear some have actually said they prefer the old outdated biz seats on the 777 to the 787...

What do you mean by stay? Stay as they are? Unless plans have changed, it was my understanding too that they are meant to be refurbished and retrofitted with the new seats.

Once it come out.
but biz is the same
one extra row of PE
the rest of that zone is Economy with EL AL space and 34 inch pitch but minus two rows from the previous configuration.
and the back zone stays the same with all regular economy.
(this is my guess)

front and back section should be the same as the current 787-9, but the new mid section will be something like the 787-8 mid section but with an extra toilet (instead of seats 29 + 30 ABC ) and the mid toilet one row forward .
(again this is my guess , I am sure we can look at where she flies tonite and then look at the seat map for the flight back )

They renumbered all the seats!
Business now starts at Row 1 through 8 (was 9 through 16)
Premium now starts at Row 10 through 14 - added 1 row - (was 17 through 20)
Economy still starts at Row 21 - the first section goes through Row 28 on the ABC and DFG rows (was 21-30)...and through Row 30 (was Row 21-32) on the HJK. The back section of Economy now starts at Row 35, which is the exit row - that used to be 45. Seems to be the same amount of rows from there to the end, in practice..

Yes,I just got an email from ElAl that my seat was changed from 10A to 2A. Checking reservation- its the same seat. My future reservations also show updated numbers - but same seat!
I guess with no First, they are morphing business into first and renumbering. Are lower number more prestigious?
