Passenger name error
Hi,
I booked a flight for a friend and used her usual first name that she uses but after carefully checking her passport I noticed that it's different:
marianne compared to the passport version of Maria. On the other hand she uses marianne on her German national ID card and driver's license.
I was wondering if it will pose a problem?

This is important especially since the ticket name should match passport name when flying into certain countries (such as the US) where they require the information to being processed through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) prior to boarding. Part of the verification process is having the ticket name/passport name being the same.

If this is a points ticket, ElAl are usually easy going - I once booked a points ticket, and put the last name as the first and he first name as the last, and when I called up they just changed it no probs.

Just wanted to update.
It was a paid ticket. we decided that it would be best not to contact LY and just play dumb at the airport, it paid off and my friend had no problem flying with her ticket despite having the wrong name on it.
