It probably could cause a problem - and someone should notify the airline- They may not make any changes if its passed 24 hours, and if you dont try to make the change now, you can bring all the ID you want, but they can refuse her at the gate.
This is important especially since the ticket name should match passport name when flying into certain countries (such as the US) where they require the information to being processed through the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) prior to boarding. Part of the verification process is having the ticket name/passport name being the same.
