EasyJet EU261 help please

Here we go again! Does Easyjet have a standard approach to first saying 'no' to everything and then only if you push or go through CEDR do you get any joy? This time they are claiming to swerve their responsibilities, blaming LGW on a lack of deicing fluid! OK it was on 18th March when it was cold and it snowed in the morning. But this was in the early evening not the morning. The aircraft rostered landed at 19.13 (from BFS) and was supposed to then operate U28117, scheduled to depart at 18.05. If it was a normal EasyJet turnaround, I reckon the flight could have got away at around 19.50. So my question I guess is were aircraft being de-iced at that time in the evening on 18th March. If not then surely the cancellation due to a lack of deicing fluid doesn't fly?

Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction?

The time of day makes no difference as aircraft need to be deicde throughout the day, 18/03 was indeed a cold day and I would imagine it did need deicing. There were issues with deicing that day at LGW as they indeed ran out of the fluid. I was lucky enough that my flight to AMS was only delayed but there were many cancellations that day due to this problem. Now, whether this is extraordinary occurence or who is at fault, I don't know but the reason for the cancellation does seem plausible chatting to the pilot that flew me out of LGW that day. If I were you I would try CEDR but the answer might be no...
Was the last BFS of the day cancelled too? Did you not get chance to transfer to that one?

Thanks....the aircraft was rostered to land from BFS and then move to the LGW-ZUR-LGW rotation which got cancelled (I was on the last leg of this sector. It was the last Easyjet flight out of Zurich. There must be some way of checking if flights needed deicing at around 19.00. Particularly given that it would have only been scheduled to be on the ground for around 40 min before moving off again

It's as you said - push or go through CEDR. If you don't want to do the work youself give it to one of the NWNF companies for about a third of any award. Quoting any relevant court decisions when writing to them may help.
