Compensation for 8 hour delay with easyJet
Hi all
My parents were delayed over 8 hours yesterday on a flight to PFO with easyJet. At check in they were told about it and were given Ł6 and access to the Servisair lounge. IMO this wasn't enough so I looked online
and it said on a guide that compensation of €400 was due as it was over a 4 hour delay and over 1500km under EU261/2004. I rang them and they said nothing was due and they did more than they had to and I was wrong.
Am I right or wrong?
Thanks.

You might be best posting a detailed query on the FlightMole forum, who seem a lot more specialised with EasyJet: http://flightmole.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14

If it was technical then they will probably try and get out of it.
To get the compensation, you would have to write into easyjet to get it anyway.
Draw up a letter asking them what the delay was for and why and then ask them as per EU regualtions for the compensation.
if you dont get anywhere with them or their answer is unsatifactory, then go to the air transport users council. They are mediators.

I had a 6 hour delay with easy jet a few years ago as a result of a technical fault. A food and drinks voucher was all that was provided, on return we looked into claiming adittional compensation although it seemed like such an effort for something that was not guaranteed so we wrote it off as 'bad luck'.

If you don't mind paying 27% of the claim + €25 admin costs to an agency (no cure, no pay), www.euclaim.co.uk can do it for you.

There's been wide publicity about Easy's awful punctuality (and a court case involving Ryanair and Sir Stelios). Not surprising though 8hrs is extreme.
Be aware that afaik, technical faults are not a get-out-for-free card for the airlines and there is a precedent case against Alitalia for this.
Good luck with the compensation.
