  • wasabi almonds from Target
  • figs
  • chili-flavored dried squid strips
  • Cheezits (not Cheese Nips) - I try to ration myself, but wind up knocking off a box no matter the size in a couple of days. Hence, I don't buy them very often.

A couple of days? I could eat an entire box in one sitting.

Not the healthiest thing in the world...but damn, they're good.

Depends which part of the world you live in - Downunder it is a staple dietary item for many.

In fact, I think I will go and make myself a vegemite and potato chip sandwich.

Well heck, cornbread crumbled into a glass of buttermilk is nothin' but a "ploughboy's lunch" back in West TN. Quick, filling and refreshing, especially on a summer's midday in the fields. Even in BOS, I will do this at home at any time of year to remember my family heritage. Somehow it evokes a feeling deeper than conscious memory.

If that cornbread has cracklins in it, all the better

My brother and I always drink whole milk with ours.

Craziest snack I ever enjoyed (in Jr. High) was a peanut butter and Bacos sandwich on onion cheese bread. My mom says her stomach still rolls just thinking about it.

Also liked to take a block of mozzarella cheese, melt it in the micro and "string" it while eating it.

+1 All Costco's self-branded snack stuff is great.

I don't know what the difference is, but nothing beats their cashews and almonds... they have so much better flavor and taste than anyone else's. Darn that the plastic jugs are so big - makes it too easy to keep chomping on them.

In my family, fruits are always great snack.. includes dried mangoes, plums, etc.

My favorites are chewy foods, such as dried sotong (i.e squid), dried octopus. Gotta love Netherland's Stroopwafel.

Fried stuff: Fried cheeses (any kind, but not the strong stuffs), deep fried mars bars, and fried beef skins (a delicacy in SE Asia sort of like cracklins).

Okay, didn't see the one I usually do. Good high quality sardines in olive oil drained, put on saltine cracker with a speck of mustard-great.

Boy ... this thread is great -- or tempting -- right about lunchtime on a Saturday. Think I'll go make memories with a shmoosh sandwich like my Dad and I made many a Saturday ago. Start with a can of drained tuna - add mayo - then add anything you want from the pantry and fridge. I usually end up with sardines, smoked oysters or mussels, chopped olives with onion & garlic salt. Add horseradish and chopped celery if so inclined. Cilantro would be good too. Spread on rye bread -- yum!

A shmoosh sandwich and Puppa-schmudt (pepsi and milk). Perfect!
