Rick and Ann's: great breakfasts, wonderful dinners. Local ingredients.
Yes, very decent breakfast stuff -- pancakes and omelets -- that were as excellent as one would expect from basic quality breakfast food. Would go back again, even though most of their menu is simple enough to make on your own, in a fraction of the time that it takes to wait for one of their tables. |
If you like Tacos and you are visiting Austin you should try Taco Deli. Not a chain but Taco Deli has two locations in Austin one near Barton Springs and one in North Austin just past the Domain near MOPAC expressway. All the comonents such as salsas are made in house. Choice of about 20 Tacos. Each Taco has a distinctly different flavors. Example well worth trying include: Conchita Pibill Taco (Yucatan pork slow cooked with pickled red onions), the Cowboy taco (a grilled steak taco with avacado etc... listed by Texas Monthly as one of the best Tacos in Texas "that you have to eat before you die"), the Mole Chicken Taco (just delicious Mole sauce). A range of other fish, beef, chicken pork Tacos...

Key West, FL: Louie's Backyard.
Must be one of the most romantic restaurants in the Keys. Hidden away from much of the bustle of Key West, it's a converted Victorian home right on the ocean. Make sure you get a table on the deck and take in the unbeatable views. If you're not up for a full meal, or unable to get a reservation at short notice, just hang out for a drink at sunset at the Afterdeck Bar. Check out the website at: http://www.louiesbackyard.com/ |
La Terrazza
La Terrazza restaurant in Rome is highly recommended. The panoramic view of St. Peter’s Basilica, the exceptional service and the food...
A-M-ZING!! I loved it:) |

I vote for Sadie's in Albuquerque, the best version of the truly unique "New Mexican" style of cuisine.
I've been eating at Sadie's for years. It used to be a really small grill in a bowling alley before becoming a large restaurant in the adjacent parking lot. The Steak and Relleno platter, combined with a margarita or two is simply unreal. The green chili cheese burger, with bacon, and cheddar, and queso stuffed inside a giant sopapilla is my single favorite thing to eat, anywhere, period. Edit to add: Did I mention this is my favorite thing to eat?!?! I'm in NYC and dying for some home cookin'. Damn. I'd Fedex the damn thing if not for the HAZMAT response (cheese leaks out the box). Arrrrrrrg.:mad::mad: |

My current favorite is East Coast Grill in Cambridge.
This week they do "Hell Night" Mon thru Thurs. Special mega-spicy menu. Happens a couple times a year. All summer they roasted a pig in a different style every Friday night. Voted best wings (special competition wings) in Boston for several years now. |
Parker's BBQ (the original location) at 2514 US 301 Wilson,NC 27893. IMHO Carolina barbecue in the best and Parker's is the best of the best. The chopped pork is one of the best things I have ever tasted (and i'm Jewish LOL). Driving from Greensboro to the Outer Banks this weekend and can't wait to stop there on the way and stuff my face.

'Took La Dee' Restaurant in Foodland Sukhumvit Soi 5 Have you tried Chote Chitr in the Banglamphu area of Rattanakosin Bangkok? This 100 year old family-run eatry using centuries-old recipes and preparations from old Siam has only six tables and the menu is posted on their wall. The best Yam Makhyao (grilled eggplant salad with prawns) and mee krob (crispy rice noodles) I have ever tasted. Generous portions and the price is very affordable. The location is a bit hard to find about a KM south of Khaosan Rd off Th. Tanao. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kalboz/...7625524602378/ http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/01/06...06bangkok.html http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=14053297 http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=chote%20chitr&w=all |
Gallo Blanco PHX
Been to Gallo Blanco in PHX twice now. Great little restaurant/bar in the lobby of the Clarendon Hotel near 4th Ave. and Indian School. Ingredients are from local providers, great tacos, tortas, outstanding guacamole, and the roasted half chicken with citrus glaze is amazing!

Nomangue, Humaita, Rio de Janeiro delightful seafood stews in the style of Espirito Santo
Osteria, Warsaw superb Italian seafood, the best in Warsaw Tropical Chinese, Miami, FL world-class dim sum on Sundays, located in a strip mall. Not to be believed that there is such a good Chinese anywhere in the southern US, but there it is. This one is the 'hidden gem' of all that I know, but it does get very crowded with locals only. Nobody else can imagine it could be good. The name is from the Tropical Shopping Center, in which it is located. It's also very good on non dim sum days, usually empty then. |
Bo Tree Thai Restaurant, Belfast
Dined here when I was recently in Belfast and was very impressed. The restaurant occupies three entire floors of a building close to Queen's University. The food was delicious and very authentic. Fabulous decor, with a soothing mix of cream walls decorated with tasteful Thai works of art, and oak floors. Good eclectic wine list too with a nice selection of New World wines that work well with Thai food. Definitely not your average Thai.
It's at 31 University Rd, Belfast. |
Nashville, TN Rippey's. It is a BBQ place right across from where the Nashville Predators (The NHL Team) play and it is amazing.
Also another one in Nashville is Jack's BBQ right across from Rippey's. |
