This place is really very good.
A bit unusual but excellent. Saints Paradise Cafeteria in DC. It is about 90 yards from the M Street and 7th entrance to the DC convention center if you are there for a meeting. I love good soul food and it is hard to find. I had fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, soft cooked green beans, cornbread and a diet coke. A shade over 10 bucks. And it was excellent. Best southern style, soft cooked green beans Ive had in a couple decades or more. The chicken and cornbread were also wonderful. Really it all was. Not fancy, as the reviews point out, it is in the basement of a church. But I think the title of the thread couldnt fit more.

When in Virginia Beach check out Steinhilber's. Great food, service and libations. Have to try the shrimp!

I'm glad I found this thread, I've been wanting to rave about my favorite local Las Vegas Place.
Sushi on Rainbow. It's on the corner of Rainbow and Spring Valley Road in Korea Town. Small restaurant with a six seat sushi bar and about ten tables. Food is good and of high quality. I go for the $27.95 all you can eat dinner. You have one hour to order whatever you want (rolls or nagiri) and the only rules are one thing at a time and no eating just the fish. Its the only time I'll leave a sushi place unable to eat another bite. They throw in ice cream too. |
In San Diego I have to say Point Loma Seafood http://pointlomaseafoods.com/
good local seafood but starting to get a little busy as they get more well known. |
If you are looking for a great burger in Houston look no futher than Hubcap Grill. Lunch only at their Downtown location on Prairie, near the Alden Hotel. They also have a second location on N. Main but haven't ventured there yet.
Very much a hole in the wall with only a few seats inside and then some seats outside in the "alley". Great sweet potato french fries also. I would rank them as one of the best in the country. Last time I was there they were a half hour late opening, but there was a patient and friendly crowd waiting for them to open. |
If you ever go to Davis, CA (about 15min drive from Sacramento) there's an amazing all you can eat sushi place for cheap (10 for lunch, 15 for dinner). Used to go there all the time on my way to Snowboarding in Tahoe
