In the past couple years, I've bought Svedka, Sky, Olifant (Dutch) and Stoli. My kids complain unless it's Stoli. I don't understand why, since it always gets mixed with something fruity. I don't drink that much of it anyway.

My buddy owns a brew pub in SBP (isnt that a great thing?) and he had a bottle of Russian Standard dropped off last week by a distributor. About time they brought it here- I wont have to carry it back in my suit cases any more.

I'm a vodka on the rocks kind of girl. My favorite place to visit is Red Square at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Hundreds of vodkas to try out. They've turned me on to some yummies. Like at a sushi bar when I say "just give me what you want", I tell they bartenders at RS, "Just give me your favorites". I usully end up buying at least one bottle at Earl's Discount Liquor to bring home. Right now, I have sitting in the house:
Zyr - from Russia - wheat and rye
Ultimat - from Poland - grain and potato
Ultimat Black Cherry
Hanger One - from California
AND:
Vodka 7000 - from Park City, UTAH
Yes, UTAH. Some guys started up a micro-distillery. They first did a rye whisky and just started a vodka. They do handcrafted, small batch product. The vodka is grain-based, using oats. It has a nutty, smooth taste. If you're ever in Utah, hit one of the State Liquor Store and buy a bottle!!
One thing about the Ultimat: The crystal bottle alone is worth buying them! The straight vodka is a colbalt blue and the black cherry is a dark red.

On a related note, why is it that I get a hangover with just 2 martinis?

I recently had a Titos handmade vodka which was excellent. I always saw the bottle in the liquor store and thought it was a crappy brand, but its actually very, very good. I love everything else about Austin, TX, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised about Titos!

I'm not much of a spirits person and mostly drink beer, however when it comes to vodka I always find myself drawn to potato vodkas like Chopin. Belvedere is my fall back if they don't have any potato vodkas, I can't really tell you why I like it, maybe because it's Polish?
