tube
Yes, the tubes are made by Nestle and are just like a short fat toothpaste tube, they have a screw top and are safe to carry around. Nestle (sorry if this sounds like an advertisement) also do a tube of a condensed milk plus coffee mix which you just have to add hot water to - these are (or used to be) fairly easy to find in Australia but I haven't seen them much elsewhere.

Only Because I Love FTers So Much . . .
My name is youreadyfreddie and this is one of my deepest, darkest secrets:
Microwave Fudge
OK, so I'm known in some circles for making decadent desserts from scratch and can be a bit of a food snob. That being said, I know when I am beaten. This fudge recipe has been very well received and one of my Aunts (who is a brilliant cook) raves about the "smooth texture" of the fudge that I make, but has never asked for the recipe (thank heaven.) My fear is that someone will ask me for the recipe, and I have actually played "the secret family recipe card" rather than admit that this fudge hasn't been made over a hot stovetop with the candy thermometer. *hangs head in shame.
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
In large bowl, combine condensed milk and chocolate chips. Microwave on high 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 minutes or until melted, stirring once. Stir until smooth, add vanilla and stir well. Pour into greased 9x9 inch pan. Refrigerate until set. Makes 1 pound 9 oz.
-------------------------
I modify the recipe, reducing the amount of semi-sweet chocolate chips with some unsweetend chocolate, so it's not quite so sweet. Sometimes I will add either peppermint, orange, or almond extract. The peppermint and the orange have received raves. YMMV.

I agree. And I discovered this by accident. In the Persian Gulf region, when you order "tea [or coffee] with milk" in a non-Western establishment -- e.g., an Arabic or Indian restaurant or tea stand -- they usually give you condensed milk. India too. And I love "Thai iced tea," which is made with the stuff.
It seems like Rainbow is the dominant brand in the Middle East. Lots of calories, probably, but delicious!
Thanks for all of the other suggested uses on this thread.

I only indulge once or twice a year, since I'm finding it more and more difficult to maintain a reasonable weight and waist size.
