Montreal is a great place for finding good tartare:
- Julien at Carre Philips
- Brasserie Holder on McGill
- Rosalie on De la Montagne
and many others

And make sure you ask for "Bien relevé" meaning "spicier" (ie extra ground pepper and/or mustard)

I'll usually stay away from places that have not been recommended by more then 3-4 people...

I've wanted to visit since seeing The Score, with Bob De Niro and Ed Norton.

Perhaps as part of a RTW fare on the return from Ireland. Any comment on that?

Are there a lot of dining options at reasonable prices from community/local French & other locals-cuisine restaurants?

Montreal is probably one of the best places to eat in North America. You cant find anything from top end restaurants to local eateries serving up food from a multitude of incluences (mainly French and Italian but you'll find incredible sushi, Indian, Thai, Mediterranean and many, many others). If you go outside the main tourist areas you'll find very resonable prices for incredible food...

For specific suggestions, PM me

I'll definitely ask for steak tartare restaurants if I'm able to get to New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Tahiti or the tiny islands of Wallis and Futuna

A fascinating place...
the only commercial flights that go to Wallis are operated by the New Caledonia based Aircalin. There is an Aircalin office in Mata-Utu on Wallis. There are no commercial boat operators.

Good steak tartare served at the Hotel Sullberg in Blankenese near Hamburg with great views high up over the banks of Elbe river. Well worth seeking out if you're in that area visiting Airbus Deutschland.
