What's your (food) weakness?

There are are quite a few foods that I like. There are some that I love. There are a couple I would have trouble passing up even if they were offered to me right after I finished a full meal.

My #1: Beets

Beets???

Of the top of my head, I'd have to say that:

My #1: crawdads (a.k.a. crawfish)

I recall returning to Houston, Texas, several years ago to visit friends and going with them to this soul food/Cajun restaurant. Stuffed myself silly on crawfish etoufee. Since I'd left my friends had gotten to know the owners pretty well. So, no one was particularly surprised when the owners offered us a ~3-lb. tray full of more crawfish (it was near closing time and they weren't going to be able to sell them). Though no one else could bring themselves to eat anymore, one of my friends and I just looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and dug in!

We finished the tray of crawfish.

Beets are good!

If they are served with great bread, olives, and skordalia.

I adore greek food!

My weakness is rare prime beef and good red wine.

Proper Russian food, from a summertime okroshka to buttery caviar blinnis.

BBQ pork ribs and buffalo wings.

Fresh white Italian Truffles in late fall. I'll eat them shaved over pasta, eggs, potatoes, risotto. Truly, this decadent seasonal food is my weakness. Oh, and don't ever tell me that this taste can be replicated in truffle butter or truffle oil.

A good quality beef tenderloin is hard to resist for me.

That's a YMMV if I've ever seen one ;)

What I can't resist: foie gras, a good gruyere, or freshly baked baguette (all together, and you'd have me on my knees).

There's a salad bar in the HQ cafeteria. It always features a bowl of cold, fresh beet chunks. They're incredibly sweet and succulent I've been known to add a second salad bowl to my tray and empty the salad bar bowl into mine. I like them plain, harvard, in borscht with sour cream, I love them pickled with little onions. The tops are my favorite green. I ate beets right out of the can at lunch yesterday.

Beet recipes welcomed. And, yes, I know I'm odd. But if you have to crave a food, isn't this better than craving a big raw steak or half a pineapple upsidedown cake every day?
