Other things I just cannot resist: Chocolate chip cookies - homemade or Uncle Biffs cookies here in San Diegp. Good thin french fries (frites!) A good cut of steak with butter on it (gorgonzola butter is my favorite). Good Mexican Food- nothing like an authentic carne asada burrito with onions and guac from a 2 dollar taco stand. OK- I am seriously hungry after this thread! |
1. Bacon, preferably crisp: Don't get me near any breakfast buffets with bacon. I'd take the whole pan.
2. Freshly baked apple/cherry crisp with vanilla ice cream 3. Key lime *anything* 4. Mangoes 5. Green tea ice cream 6. Biscuits with sausage gravy (my ideal breakfasts are heart-stopping) |
1) Just about anything Thai
2) A good steak (Ribeye cajun style or NY Strip) 3) Crab cakes (I make my own w/ jumbo meat from Maryland & Alaska) 4) Gumbo 5) I have my own breakfast combination - hominy, prosciutto ham, bits of smoked bacon, onions (shallots, onions, green & red) all cooked in bacon fat! :D |
It's funny for someone who grew up in NYC, but I love biscuits and gravy.

Maine Wild Blueberrys - tiny by comparison to those big plump NJ monsters you find in the supermarket...but *one* has more flavor than a basket-full of store bought.
Bread from Dudley's Bakery, Santa Ysabel, California (back country San Diego County) - I've *NEVER* manage to get more than 1/2 the loafs bought home. As when the smell of fresh baked bread permeates the car, an immediate need to eat some ensues. The Lunch of the Gods - Cold Cracked Dungeness Crab, a baguette of Boudin's sourdough bread, and a bottle of Anchor Porter consumed on a bench overlooking San Francisco Bay. Oysters at Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar in Seattle, WA. Roasted Chestnuts from the London Street vendors. |

It's made to a slightly different recipe around the world, usually to stop it melting, and sorry to those of you overseas - it just isn't as nice. When I travel overseas if i'm told to bring anything from the UK it, more often than not, is Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate.... and it's cheap £1.50 for a big bar! Actually, I find that to be true about all US made chocolate, in general :( |

Either take I-15 north to Escondido and then take Highway 78 east to Santa Ysabel Or take I-8 East to highway 79 north. |
