The only thing one should put on French toast is ketchup.

No idea why people put syrup and other strange things like that on it.

After all, you don't put syrup on an omelette. Why put it on French Toast?

I actually like to put maple syrup on my scrambled eggs - but I never use ketchup or hot sauce on them. I rarely eat omelettes but would put syrup on them if I did, depending on what fillings were inside. For whatever reason I never put syrup on eggs over-easy or sunny-side-up, which are my two favorite ways to have eggs.

Note, this is only for real maple syrup, not that artificial junk which has no business at the breakfast table!

I don't actually "put" syrup on my eggs, omelettes, bacon or sausage, but if some ends up there it's not a problem at all.

I do purposefully put syrup on my breakfast sausage.

Or you could buy maple flavored sausages. I have no idea if they use real maple syrup or taste good. But I would try them.

Pastrami with mayo? Yuck!!!

So, Im in my local deli restaurant. My corned beef sandwich arrives, and Im about to take the first, glorious bite. I look to my right, and I see a guy at the next table slathering mayo, on his white bread pastrami sandwich.
Normally, I dont care what anyone does with their meat. Live and let live!
Something about this just disgusted me. Ewwwwww.
Anyone else witness an assault on food decency?

Obviously only mustard should be allowed. But beef and mayo are actually not a bad combo, so I could probably forgive this. It makes me cringe when people put ketchup on a hot dog though. Totally disgusting. If you love ketchup so much, why not order a burger and fries instead? We ban adults from Chicago for this crime.

I think mayo should be restricted to making salads out of poultry or seafood. But may people disagree with me and I see it on an awful lot of inappropriate foods such as hamburgers.

Ranch dressing is even more offensive. Like for dipping slices of pizza.

Life imitating art (1977) perhaps?

Mayo has been the main ingredient in the special sauces (or by itself) on almost all fast food (drive-in) burgers since the early 50s if not before. The places that put hamburgers on the map. How can it be inappropriate on a burger?

Mr. Gfunk once walked into Manny's (a 1950s time warp cafeteria-style Jewish diner in Chicago) and tried to order a corned beef on white with mayo. They wouldn't make it for him. I was meanwhile like, "I don't know this guy."

Growing up in the midwest, I remember 'ham salad' and 'meat filling' which would better be described as beef salad - both sandwich fillings. Sandwiches in that place and time meant squishy white bread, some yellow mustard and if you wanted to get fancy, a 'leaf' of iceberg lettuce

Here in the south, we still have places that do ham or turkey salad on mushy white bread with possibly a piece of lettuce. Occasionally they get fancy and slightly toast the mushy white bread.

Among my personal food rules is to not pass judgement on what someone else eats. Ketchup on your hot dogs, mayo on your pastrami, pineapple on your pizza are all good as long as you don't want me too join in.
