Asparagus as a side

My last time at Morton's in Beverly Hills, we ordered a side of asparagus and it consisted of 6 spears of asparagus for $10. I don't mind paying more for good beef well prepared (not well done, but blue), but at more than $1.50 a spear, I felt like I was being ripped off. I mean, it's asparagus. The steak is fine (of the chains, I actually like the filet at Ruth's Chris better, but I'm sure that has to do as much with the butter as anything else), but their sides -- the creamed spinach is not the best, either -- need some work.
