That's a pet peeve of mine too. I think it's absolutely rude for waiters to remove plates until everyone had finished his/her meal. When they try to remove mine (I eat much too quickly unfortunately), I tell them that to wait until the other person is finished.

I share this view, though like Doppy I like to be a little more subtle so as not to draw attention to those who haven't finished their meals yet. If I see that others aren't done yet, I'll slow down my pace or intentionally leave some food on the plate. That way the person clearing the table knows I'm not done yet, or if they ask, I will say "no" and try to finish up when my guests are done. I don't like feeling like I'm a slow eater, and I don't want any of my guests to feel rushed, either, but I think saying "wait until the other person is finished" is a little too conspicuous.

Hmmm, I'll try and be less conspicuous.

Off point, but somewhat related: I was on a flight last week, sitting on the aisle, reading w/my half-finished drink (half-finished, not empty) in front of me. Engrossed in my reading, I was slow to react when I saw a hand reach down and grab my drink. I jerked my head up and turned around to see a FA walking down the aisle to dispose of my drink. We were not on approach. When I saw her again, I asked for another (and got it).

This is not the first time FAs have tried to take my drink early -- but usually, I see it coming and am able to fend off the attempt.

Sorry - I wasn't directing my comments at your actions. Just saying that I don't want to make my guests feel rushed any more than I want the servers to make my guests (or me) feel rushed.

You're correct in expecting that the plates shouldn't be removed. It's probably ignorance on their part so let them know what the proper etiquette is. Nix the aforementioned if you're a plate stacker.
