Wow -- really?
What did you have?

I've only et two things at Felix's -- oysters and crawfish.
(Didn't notice anything else.)
Oysters were, literally, right off the boat fresh.

My favorite MSY joint, by far.

Of our 4 dozen oysters, 3 dozen were great and the rest were
meh. Spaghetti with daube and crab bisque were two of the
worst things that have ever been served to me anywhere,
and that includes the homes of friends who profess not to be
able to cook. RBR was really bland - no smoky sausage flavor,
no spice. The Abita pitchers were fine.

I don't do crawfish unless I know who has caught them. Even
in New Orleans, most of what you get is Chinese farmed, and
if Felix's doesn't do that, more power to it.

At Acme, I sit at the oyster bar, and if any oyster isn't
perfect, the guy hears immediately, and I get two more
as compensation.

Hog Island

I think Hog Island has some amazing oysters. I am pretty germophobic, so I know that these are farmed in Tamales bay. Hog Island's entire reputation relies on their oysters, so they cannot afford anybody getting sick. I know of people who have gotten deathly ill from raw oysters at 'seafood' restaurants. But Hog Island, however, can't afford that risk. Their oysters are awesome, and I feel very safe eating there. A nice beer and some oysters on a sunny day overlooking the SF bay, and I'm all set.
